While not the best it could be worse. The issues with drugs and violence are increasing and nothing is being done about it. Teachers will turn a blind eye to bullying, while students are openly vaping and selling drugs. Students also use slurs as if there is never any consequences because teachers only tell them not to cuss. The tardy policy is also ridiculous, students shouldnt be given after school detention for being seconds late to their class.

We transferred our child from another school in the area and could not be more impressed with Skyview Elementary, the building, learning practices and its staff including the principal. I am not sure how many principals will greet students at the door after the summer break and know each one by name. We were welcomed by smiling faces and a great feeling. The teachers communicate and are truly there for the children, there is a genuine feeling of care and the want for each of them to succeed. Our child went from loving school in preschool to hating school in kindergarten (attended elsewhere) back to loving school. There is structure, real learning, guidance and real happiness throughout the building. This is school where when the teacher says I am here to teach your children to learn, it is my job to find a way that works, they mean it.

I went here during the pandemic for the majority of my time here we were online. I could tell that the teachers where frustrated with not being able to see us but they still tried their hardest to make learning fun. When I was in school before the pandemic, most of the teachers seemed genuinely excited to teach and help us grow. The students had their downfalls but overall the environment was welcoming.
