"Not sure what Wash is talking about. I rented a home on Marion and am about to close on a home on Sarafina. The area IS Utica Community Schools, have a child attending Oakbrook. The police station is close by and a fire station is within 1 mile. The area is and feels safe. There is a police presence which keeps criminals away. The people in this area are just as someone else described, watchful but not nosy. You can make friends with your neighbors if you wish or keep to yourself and people will respect this. It's very easy to travel to any area you want. Straight down 16 to 75 or down Van Dyke to 696. A Meijer is in the area so shopping is easy. Plenty of 7/11s, ice cream places, fast food, sit down places, movies, etc. I am very happy and lucky I found a home to purchase in the same area I had been renting for the past 2 years. I looked elsewhere and could have moved to what some would consider a more "wealthy" area but I stayed. The only thing I don't like is there are no sidewalks in the area north of 16 and between Van Dyke and Dodge Park. I would prefer to have them since I have children but on the flip side the streets are wide and people drive carefully for the most part. The police are great, watchful, and friendly. Sterling Fest is very close which is a great time for everyone. I couldn't be happier and plan on staying in my new home till the day I die."
