6/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AveragePoorly managed school district with very few amenities. We came from Indiana, which I didn’t think had the best schools but after coming here I realize I was wrong. No air conditioning at the school, the school/district info is always updated last minute if at all, they are not accommodating to parents that work, and the transportation is awful! I’m very disappointed that I’m paying such high taxes for very little for my kids. In fact, my biggest aggravation is that my 1st grader was displaced from our “local” school, Brown, and has to take a bus to this school and then they shuttle her to Clarke! The ratio in her class is 25:1 which is unbelievable for such a small district. Our last district provided twice as much bus service, provided before and after school care, gave headphones, water bottles, and other school supplies to kids, plus had a wider variety of lunch options. The classroom ratio was 19:1.Parent Review1y ago - Lincoln School

7/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageAs a graduate and a parent St Joseph Public schools would be consider one of the top schools in not only the local area but State Wide. Teachers are giving tools and resources to properly educate students. Class room sizes have grown over the last few years and the school district has responded. I will notate that there is a lot of politics in the school district when it comes to teachers, classes, sports and any other recreational options for students. The school scores in top percentile in testing and graduation rates. St Joseph High School also offers partnerships with Lake Michigan College to allow students to start working on College Credits before graduating to truly put your student in the best position to be successful in the future.Parent Review1y ago - Upton Middle School

8/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageAs an alumni and a parent Upton Middle School is a fantastic place to bring your student. They have passionate teachers who are consistently finding ways to improve educating students. The school district does have some politics that any school district would have but as classrooms sizes have grown they have responded by hiring qualified professionals. I will admit that the drop off and pick up could be better but overall it's a fantastic school to be apart of.Parent Review1y ago - Check out schools near 2300 S State St.

"It’s a very kid friendly neighborhood. There’s no such thing as a privacy fence. Those are frowned upon in this neighborhood. Neighbors are friendly and will wave or speak. Turning into more of a diverse neighborhood."

"No Public Transportation here. All car dependent. nice, clean, maintained, could use more sidewalks for sure. and bike lanes are definitely needed, more entertainment options than just the bars and the only bowling alley in there are needed. "

"It is the best of all worlds. The traffic is comparatively light so it is easy to get around. I am close to major motorways with access to main city hubs, but at the same time I am within very close proximity of the beach, restaurants, shops and medical facilities. I can walk across the road to hairdressers, restaurants, and other service stores, and yet I can walk out in my back yard onto a large deck with a ravine. Everyone is friendly although gives you space and I feel very safe walking around. There is also an excellent school system around and one excellent University under 10 miles away. A great environment."
