10/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageVery competitive, depends on the kid. This is an incredible school for high achieving students, both academically and in athletics. Many students also participate in extra tutoring and athletic training outside of the school in order to achieve thanks to the affluent and very involved parents in the community. However, it is very competitive. If your child thrives in that environment, this is the school for them! If your child has any type of learning issue, slower to mature, not an athletic rockstar; or maybe is just an A/ B student in regular classes versus an all-A student with 3-4 AP Classes, this school will have a tendency to beat on their self-esteem. Even the clubs can be intense and compete at state competitions. My son's freshman college English class was easier than 11th grade English at Adams (not honors, just regular 11th grade English). The classes are huge - ~36 per class; not a lot of 1x1 conversations/relationships between student and teacher. A lot of variety in electives, however, any type of technical school is completely off campus and isolated from the rest of the student body. Great for the 4.0, class President who plays a varsity support; not as good a fit for an A/B kid's self-esteem.Parent Review1mo ago - Van Hoosen Middle School

10/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageWhen I attended this school it was mediocre at best. I had some teachers who did care about me and how well I was doing in the class but I also had some who only cared about their record or just didn’t care how I was doing in the class. I also had some teachers who were cold and obviously didn’t want to be teaching. Food was horrible and the principals at the time were a joke and no one took them seriously. There were also a few teachers who acted as if they were teaching to elementary schoolers instead of middle schoolersOther Review4y ago - Musson Elementary School

"I wouldn’t necessarily say unique but more so separate from the rest. The diversity in this area is there, but not as “free” as you’d see in Ferndale/ Royal Oak area. It would be nice to have more. This city is a place to raise a family, walk the dog(s), or invite your neighbor over for a BBQ. It’s safe, clean and quiet. "

"Frequently see dog owners walking their dogs. Great leash compliance, people do a good job of cleaning up after their dogs. One concern if you have a small dog is that you need to be extra vigilant due to frequent coyote sightings in the area."
