4/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageOPHS is currently suffering from a rapid turnover of school leadership & staff. This has been a problem for almost a decade, but when literally EVERY administrator is new and then leaves the next year (or mid year… even when they signed a two year contract), that tells you something. There are still some outstanding staff members, but as they suffer inconsistencies from above (which leads to complete confusion of policies/procedures and chaotic student behavior)… unfortunately the staff is losing their best and struggling to recruit. Last year several classes were taught by subs for the entire school year. Something has to be done to support administrators and staff so that they don’t feel so exhausted and demoralized. More money and more PEOPLE are needed to carry the heavy load and correct this negative path that this school is on. (Additional note: The building is OLD and extremely outdated. This is a functional struggle, safety concern, and something that adds to low overall morale. Updates are long overdue.) All this being said, many of my students have said that this school is better than others that they have previously attended - usually in Detroit.Teacher Review7mo ago - Pepper Elementary School

2/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThis school has low rates on everything .The children are below level. The majority of workers seem like they are not qualified. Seem like they need to do background checks on the volunteers . The children that need 504 plan or special education seem like the school does not want to help them..Parent Review2y ago - Check out schools near 24231 Parklawn St.

"Park events in the summer like concerts and fairs. Library events and farmers market. Oak Park is definitely a family oriented community. In the summer law enforcement will deliver ice cream and popsicles to the children in the neighborhood"

"We are safe here. High alert from neighbors and police officers. We have lived here for almost a decade. Great place to live."

"I don’t own a dog. I do know the city requires dogs be registered and have records of shots. People walk their dogs daily some people pick up after their dogs others don’t. Most dogs are on a leash. "
