Description

This property is no longer available to rent or to buy. This description is from July 21, 2022
LIVE IN A CASTLE. Built by contractor Jorma Lankined for himself, this unique SMART HOME is amazing. The original castle, built in 1985 hzs had 2 additions, one in 1997 and the other in 2001. The exterior walls are 2x8 studs with 5/8" drywall and 4" brick veneer. The amazing master suite is unlike anything you've ever seen, believe me. It has a walkout to a private deck with hot tub. There is a theater room with large screen TV and wet bar, an authentic Finnish sauna with shower, Whirlpool tub with gold fixtures, central vacuum, office, 3 separate insulated attached garages. The heat costs are so low you'll think the power company made a mistake. The unique kitchen has features any homemaker would love. There is a W-H generator for emergencies. One of the sellers is a Licensed Real Estate Broker.

"This is a safe neighborhood, well maintained properties, nestled into the foothills of Marquette Mountain. Some lots abut a green strip with frequent sightings of deer and a variety of migratory birds during the summer months. Downtown is more than a short walk but is a reasonable bike ride away (warm months). Otherwise public transport is available from the front door. Snow plowing is excellent on Altamont and you can always get out during winter if you keep the foot of your driveway clear. Marquette has just the right amount of tourism to support a variety of sporting events and festivals during all seasons but not so much tourism that it feels like a congested bigger tourist area like Traverse City. There are a least three local micro-brewries, several good restaurants, and always entertainment, especially on weekends. Marquette is growing just enough to support continuous improvements and developments of its parks and attractions and there are at least two (three star type) hotels and along with a number of nice chain hotels for visitors. Downtown becomes almost magical in the wintertime with its snow-capped sandstone facades and "lit-up" trees. Being situated on a bay of Lake Superior makes Marquette one the the most picturesque small towns in the Midwest. "
