5/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageGreat school. Great teachers. My kids are very happy here. The teachers care about the students, and the ratio is very low. I appreciate all of them, but the Superintendent Thomas Jayne is doing a terrible job. The school needs serious updates, and revisions.Teacher Review10y ago - Iron Mountain High School

8/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI have had a child or children in the district for at least 10 years, in that time we’ve been through multiple administrators. Only a couple were good, and they are gone. I am just starting to deal with new administration and already have concerns. Throughout the years we have had multiple problems with teachers, lesson plans, unprofessional behaviors, lack of teacher oversight, and overall not student centered when problems arise. In life, we all hold many roles, and my roles have put me in a possession to have a very informed idea about a district. As a Christian, I try to work through things, but that’s been very difficult in the past amd in the present. Our kids need good teachers, real instruction, guidance, oversight, relevant lessons amd lesson plans, teaching across the curriculum, and gosh - and adults that can and will admit when they to have made a mistake, when they could have handled things better, and they to have adults who are proactive and help them navigate the assignments in a respectful responsible manner. Teachers need oversight and accountability as they nurture these young minds- every bit - if not not more than the children they are there to teach. And children need to have a voice. I strongly believe thT kids should be grading their teachers (especially at the high school level) because they will be new young voters, because the school should be preparing them to have an informed opinion and the importance of expressing it - anonymously in a danger free setting, and that if a problem arises they or the data should be made available for review in some way shape or form. In summary many changes would need to be made at various levels, and in my honest opinion they have a lot of work to do. School of choice is very real, and not hard to exercise. The sad fact is- I chose Iron Mountaon originally when I liked the administrator. My kids developed friends. I’m not even in the district anymore. I’d rather he go in our district as would his father. The only reason he was still there was for his friends, and sadly that’s probably not a good enough reason to stay, because his education amd the schools ability to handle situations as they arise is at the very least disheartening amd has been an exceptionally stressful process for a student that excels and has never really been a problem.. They have many good teachers but I have still seen so much wrong.Parent Review2y ago - North Elementary School

4/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThe teachers and administrators are helpful and caring. Our Kindergartener comes home everyday happy and excited to share what she has learned. It is so wonderful to know that she is being exposed to art, drama, music, dance, gym and so much more during her school week. We are thrilled that she is attending such a well rounded school.Parent Review8y ago - East Elementary School

6/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageEast Elementary School in Iron Mountain, Michigan is an amazing school! The teachers truly care about the students, and the teacher/student ratio is very low. This is an awesome school district all together. The students are happy, the parents are involved, and the faculty and staff are incredible. East Elementary is a great place to send your kids!Parent Review10y ago - Check out schools near 732 N Kimberly Ave.

"What a great family oriented community! Friendly neighbors live on this block and it is right next to City Park which has many hiking/biking trails as well as a brand new disc golf course. In the winter time the trails are groomed for skiing and many are open to snowshoe. Beautiful Pine Grove Country Club is also right down the street. This block is also about 8 blocks from Iron Mountain Schools."
