N/AGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageJo Ann (the vice principal) is a bully and demonstrates passive aggressiveness towards other adults, which creates a very toxic environment. The principal doesn't even respond to emails or phone calls. The teachers are nice and seem to genuinely care about the kids. If the administration fails, how can the school function? This place is setting itself up for a potential lawsuit in the near future with this "I don't give a care" mentality.Other Review1mo ago - Abbot School

6/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageMy children attended Abbot Kindergarten through fifth grade graduation. Many of the teachers that most helped our family and other families in needs were let go in favor of teachers who were more focused on test scores. While volunteering, I once witnessed a white teacher drag a black second grader out of the class by his collar to reprimand him. I frequently witnessed other teachers use shame and threats in order to control student behavior. The school has a PBIS system that publicly shames students who lack self-regulation skills. Most families at Abbot are affluent however there are many low income students who have many stresses and developmental delays due to instability in the house, who are wrongly punished. My youngest son has poor hearing in one ear which was documented through many audiologist visits. Although the school was frequently made aware, he was regularly disciplined for not listening. My youngest is a sensitive so he would often come home crying because he would miss instruction due to louder students around him. I sent multiple emails and meet with teachers to explain why he was not following directions and to provide documents, but I would not see any change. Abbot teachers have little patient for any misbehavior and very little supports for students with challenges. My children also experienced many incidences of bullying. My oldest once came home with a large abrasion on his forehead because a student slammed his head against a brick wall. My other child had many experiences where other students had thrown his entire lunch in the trash. The teachers when notified where unaware leaving me to think they were not well supervised. When my children were in Kindergarten, I separated from my children's father due to his physical abuse towards me. At the beginning of the school year, I had taken emergency custody of my children, and I was living in a motel in hiding. Only one staff member expressed any concern or kindness for our safety and she was later let go. She now works in a Head Start program where I am sure she is valued. While going through legal proceedings my children's father was making false allegations that I was mentally unfit. I asked my children's teachers to be a witness to my character and only one staff member (the one previously mentioned) agreed. I then received an email stating that the district did not want teachers to become involved. I found this statement devasting and I felt alienated from the community.Parent Review1y ago - Forsythe Middle School

9/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI've had 2 children graduate from Skyline thus far. They received an excellent education and were well prepared for college. They both have careers in STEM at this time. They both participated in Magnet Programs and those were very valuable to their learning experience. The majority of their high school friends are doing great in their lives and careers as well. I am 100% satisfied with our experience.Parent Review7mo ago - Check out schools near 5183 Christine Dr.

"Great the roads are wide open and safe to drive on. We enjoy coming to Ann Arbor to visit Grand Parents. Huge Buckeye fans so not living the football team. "

"I have very easy access to public transportation. I can ride my bicycle anywhere, and safely for the most part. I don’t drive to work so I can’t speak to the traffic, but from what I can tell, there is quite a morning rush into downtown. I love living in Ann Arbor. The current road closures for the purpose of allowing business to overflow outside their walls for the safety of those who wish to be consumers- I think is wonderful example of people coming together to work around hardship. "Love where I live ! Good commutes. Multicultural. Great food and friendly people everywhere. Now one parties harder than Ann Arbor. I love my job and the environment that Ann Arbor has to offer. It’s amazing out here. There’s so many beautiful nature places to take up your time or lovely shopping downtown. Literally has everything. I love Ann Arbor. Seriously. "

"I live in this neighborhood for a year in a half, pretty standard relax environment if your looking for a more involve community this isn’t it but it’s also not a college town area. More so a upper level students area or maybe couples moving in together start out. Only thing I would change is cost not much here for the amount they charge."

"I have lived in this area for 25+ years and LOVE Ann Arbor. We have so many community events, art and restaurants. Plus it us very easy to get around by bus or Uber if you need them. The train runs to Chicago daily and to Detroit as well : there is also buses to the airport several times a day. "

"The University of Michigan hosts everything... gamedays, art fair, folk fair, concerts in the park, shakespeare in the park. even though it is near campus, there are a lot of family friendly events "

"I live in a community of condos and see dogs rarely. However, when spending time in neighborhoods around downtown, I do often see dogs being walked. Some neighborhoods are better than others in terms of sidewalk care; street lighting outside of downtown can be minimal. "

"High taxes for little return. Crowded schools. Roads in need of repair. Claimed to be the most educated city in someone's book, if you are so smart, then fix these issues instead of tearing up and then paving a dedicated bike lane on a road with nothing wrong with it."

"In my specific neighborhood, they have a dinner at a nearby restaurant in the Winter and someone hosts a pool party in the summer. That’s all I’m aware of in my neighborhood. Too many things to name for Ann Arbor in general. It has it all."

"We live south of Eisenhower Rd and really like the area. It’s really safe and less expensive than the more northern parts of Ann Arbor. There isn’t much to do on the south side of town, you either have to go west towards Maple Rd or head north to downtown/ Kerrytown. The south side seems like a nice place for kids and pets, especially if you want to get away from the annoying parking and bustle of downtown and university. "
