Description
This property is no longer available to rent or to buy. This description is from October 23, 2023
This extra-charming classic New England style home on a sweet side street only one block from Main Street and beautiful Camden Harbor is the one you've been waiting for. The often-photographed storybook exterior and beautiful landscaping will draw you in. From the side driveway, walk through the gated flower-laden arbor into your hidden backyard garden with stone pathways and patio area, privacy fencing, and a large deck leading to the rear mudroom and kitchen entrance. A familiar layout is a bit more open for thoughtful modern living in this home: an updated kitchen with newer appliances is connected to the lovely dining room, then flows to the sunny living room, to the stair hall, then back to the kitchen. A full bath and a separate laundry room complete the first level. Upstairs are three bedrooms and a full bath with a clawfoot tub. Well-maintained and loved with many recent updates keeping the charm intact, enjoy freshly painted spaces with original wood floors, trim, and details throughout. Another bonus: a nicely finished 11' x 11' space has been added to the detached garage, offering an ideal separate studio, workshop, or home office with high ceilings and great light. Many of the larger pieces of furniture can stay, making it easy to start enjoying your Camden dream home right away. Are you ready to move in?

8/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageAbove average public school with great resources. Full of school spirit and activities, but has significantly reduced opportunities to engage students academically over the last several years by eliminating advanced science and advanced spanish, reducing their class hours also, at the school, and preferentially creating many 'fill-in' classes of little academic or social beneift. Parental disapproval is generally ignored. Many students are under-challenged in many classes, but many parents mention being 'punished' if they consistently bring up these shortcomings to the school. Parent-teacher conferences being able to meet with several teachers to review a students progress were eliminated and are generally disliked and not useful per most parents. There are a few 'excellent' teachers however they really engage the students in challenging ways, and the students often prefer those classes and teachers.Parent Review4w ago - Camden-Rockport Elementary School

N/AGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageLovely school and faculty. No social or family events AT ALL. In the two years we’ve been at this school not one in-person PTA meeting, book fair, harvest festival, Daddy daughter dance. Literally nothing. No student directories to connect with families, and make playdates. It is the strangest, loneliest school outside school hours. Covid was a factor, of course, but after awhile here now I notice other schools have events and potlucks, celebrations often. This school is an anomaly that way. I have brought this to the principals attention, the school district even. There are a few people on a monthly Zoom for PTA you have to seek to find info on. If we weren’t so close to timing out of this school grade wise I would transfer out for this reason alone. Elementary were the sweetest years of my older sons life, in another state, and I am really sad for this part of the experience here. It’s been really hard for a new kid to get friendships to stick outside of class and during the summer.I write this review with genuine hope that something can be done. There’s not even a community Facebook group families can interact in. A gaping whole in social-emotional development.Parent Review1y ago - Check out schools near 5 Cross Street.

"We are close to town, restaurants and the ocean. Our neighbors are fantastic and the lots are designed so that there is privacy. "

"We have lived in this house since 1976. It is one block from the library and harbor and two blocks from the grocery store, the bank and the post office. We can go for weeks without ever getting in the car. Most neighbors are here for the summer so we have the street pretty much to ourselves in the winter."

"Prototypical New England seaport town. Incredible vistas, lots of green space and frequent entertainment and outdoor activity in the Summer. Not a big nightlife town, pretty quiet by 10pm, but the days start early this far East! Atlanta residents for 20+ years, the Camden lifestyle is more appealing every time we visit. Considering a winter trip to see if we could hack it!"
