Both my children were behind in reading and both made significant gains through the school’s literacy program. The teachers are actively trying to improve instruction by analyzing student data to strategically group students for instruction. They do this for both math, reading, and writing. My children love their approach to positive behaviors which include tickets, color codes, and monthly assemblies. As a parent, I wish communication could be better but that too has improved over the last few years. 5/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThe school is beautiful and the staff friendly and helpful however my honor student was bullied and harassed by her freshman english teacher. Humiliated in front of peers who spoke out about it. I demanded a meeting and the dean was more interested in protecting the teacher. Filled out a bully report thanks to the help of DeChristafaros office who took swift action and removed my child to another class. 4/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThis is my son's first year at Sterling and I have to say I am very disappointed in the educational environment as well as the caliber of students that attend this school. The teachers teach "for the test" and focus exclusively on passing the MCAS as opposed to creating a learning environment for the students. My son has very little homework and the homework is much simpler than what I would expect for a middle school level. Quite a few of the students are clearly not interested in learning and have not had successful outcomes. My son will not be attending this school next year.Parent Review13y ago
