3/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI occasionally substitute at Fort River and am always delighted by the friendly positive attitude of staff and students. The teachers leave wonderful plans and information that shows how deeply they care about their students. Teachers in neighboring classrooms are always quick to lend a hand when the rare problem occurs. Students are so helpful in explaining their classroom teacher's routines. I always look forward to the next opportunity to spend a day at Fort River School.Other Review13y ago - Amherst Regional High School

6/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI moved to Amherst from another state and took one year of school here a few years ago. I can say without a doubt this was the worst school I've ever been to, and I've moved a lot. The students are racist and homophobic and no one in the administration cares enough to do anything about it and uses "restorative justice circles" to resolve any kind of conflict, usually forcing a student to talk to the person bullying them which makes no change and sometimes makes it worse. There is also a huge drug problem in this school district but especially the middle school which I haven't heard anyone talking about, almost every student obviously uses drugs which none of the teachers or administration seem to notice or do anything about, I'm honestly surprised people haven't died from drug abuse or alcohol poisoning at least that I've heard of at this school. You may say that drugs are an issue at almost every school, which sure, maybe they are, but in my experience with this school it was absolutely insane. Compared to the highschool, ARHS is better considering the bullying part, but not by much, and the drug part is slightly less in the case of how many people use but it's still very significant. Overall I regret moving to Amherst and going to their schools.Other Review2mo ago - Check out schools near 65 Salem St #2.
