5/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI was a student at Benjamin Franklin. I started at this school when I was in Pre-K, and I am now in the 9th grade at Lusher School. When I attended this school before Hurricane Katrina it was a magnet school meaning you had to take a test. After Katrina the school was obliged to allow any student in without taking a test. The teachers at Benjamin Franklin do not care about the child's education, they do not have a great disciplinary system at all and they just student do whatever they choose at this school. That is why I decided to leave for 8th grade at Lusher School. I will say that the only good thing about Benjamin Franklin is that it goes from Pre-K to 8th grade. I f you want your child to go to an extraordinary school send them to Lusher Charter School.Other Review9y ago

"lot's of good walking areas. including parks. mostly friendly neighbors that look out for each other and value a safe neighborhood. lots of tree's and shade and places to relax in the shade. "

"I drive to downtown for my commute. It takes a bit longer than I’d like due to traffic but public transport is available! The streetcar would be a good option for someone willing to take a bit more time to get to work. "

"Maple Street and its restaurants and shops is our neighborhood meeting space. Oak Street is a short walk. "

"I feel safe in this neighborhood. Besides bike theft and occasional college student shenanigans, there is little crime. The biggest issue is the build up of trash from student houses. Road quality varies block to block, but that’s New Orleans. Very quiet and peaceful neighborhood."
