4/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageWe have had such a great experience here. My kids transferred here when they were in 2nd and 5th grade. It wasn't an easy transition but the admin Karen made it as smooth as possible. My son had major anxiety issues and they worked with him daily, having him work with the social worker, trying skills at home, even reached out to his former class and had them send over signed letters about how much they love and missed him. It was definitely the extra mile. His teacher was sweet, and he has had great teachers each year since. The kids all get along in his classes he has been in, there truly don't seem to be many issues. My daughter had some issues with some girlfriends when she was in 6th grade, but honestly, it was normal girl drama, not school related. They have a wonderful PTA here too that is constantly doing fundraisers and activities for the kids, and they usually have great participation too. 6/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThis has been a great experience. My mother in law was a teacher here for years, and you can see the passion she invokes in students. My daughter now attends this school, and has had a great experience. New principal this year, so some rules were a little different than expected, but it is all to promote student safety so we can’t really be too upset by it. Students are not allowed to carry backpacks around FYI, so plan to buy your student a nice zippered binder or something similar. Only complaint my daughter has is about math, but not because of the teacher, more so she just doesn’t love the subject. 7/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageSouth is great. There is a large diverse student population, yet all kids seem to be getting along fairly well. The school is always well maintained, inside and out. Our kids have had games/activities here long before they ever attended classes, and it's always just so well maintained. You can tell they take pride in their school. Our daughter cheers, and they have a great program. They have so many different clubs and sports to participate in, and there truly is something for everyone. Faculty all seems to be genuinely invested in the students and their success, which as a parent is great to see. "A paved walking and biking trail is steps from the front door. Convenient access to 435 in central OP, great for those on the go. JCCC and KU Edwards campus are just a few miles down the street. Shopping is convenient with 119th and Metcalf nearby, a new Hy-Vee at 95th and Antioch, along with Walgreens, CVS, and other specialty shops. Great restaurants surround the area via short driving distance. This is a quiet, discreet location in the midst of activity."
