3/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThis is an awesome school. Don't let statistics and state numbers/rates fool you! I moved my family here when both of my kids were starting High School/Junior High and in retrospect, I'm happier for having my kids attend GHS than I am about moving to the area. My kids were previously in the Fort Wayne Community School system, and let me tell you - what a huge difference! I simply was amazed at the relationships between the teachers and students, and the relationships between the students. For the most part, all of the kids "got along". There was no bullying at this school, simply because all of the kids stood up and supported each other - like it should be! The staff and teachers supported the kids in everything they did, and above all instilled integrity and morality. I simply cannot say enough good about this school - I went to school at a small country school and had experience with the big city schools, but was truly amazed at the overall atmosphere at GHS. The teachers love what they do and the administration cares about the academics as well as the social aspects of the students. Just because test numbers look low, doesn't mean the kids aren't truly prepared for college or other after high school activities - the teachers teach the students to LEARN - not to learn to take tests. There is a very strong arts (band/show choir/etc.) and a very dedicated sports program that not only focuses on the major sports but also supports the smaller club/team sports. Both of my kids are now in college, and doing well. If you want a good review, ask a parent or student what they think - don't just look at the numbers!Parent Review5y ago - J E Ober Elementary School

4/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThis school is great as long as your child has no medical problem and can work by themselves. There are many good teachers at this school who do care and try to help. All that being said there are issues. The head nurse refused to call us back two different times. We have to call, and call & call, oh, yea and call again till you happen to reach her in person. When trying to get help for my child the head nurse suggested I home school. The principal suggested to someone else that we were just keeping my child home at the slightest thing. My child has a doctor diagnosed health condition that makes certain things hard. They never did provide any help. The administrative & nursing side of the school is a one star in my book. That does not translate to the teachers though. I would give the ones we have dealt with 5 stars. They put up with a lot from students and administration. I am just going to average a three star on the rating but it depends on whether it is the administrative side or the teachers.Parent Review1y ago - Check out schools near 1712 County Road 66.

"Auburn is a great place to live and to raise a family. Not a lot of sit down restaurants but lots of places to still eat. And fort Wayne is a 20 minute drive to a lot of restaurants and shopping options "

"Smaller community, safe, quiet & friendly. I really enjoy this family centered community. Locally owned businesses, coffee shops, clothing stores, a jeweler, restaurants, winery, breweries, and so much more. "

"Auburn is a decent sized city, not too large and not too small. There are no gangs, graffiti, to worry about. Your kids feel safe riding bikes around town. Most home owners care for their properties. There are plenty of jobs, restaurants, stores to meet needs. There are several parks around the area and plenty of sports league options. "

"The roads are cleared very early because they’re technically city streets. I live on Huron. Kids play. Nice neighbors, nice yards. The only problem is the people in the apartments speed down the road like crazy. It needs to be enforced"

"No public transportation in Auburn area. You must have your own vehicle. The roads are well-maintained and street parking is abundant. Commute around NE Indiana area is easy. Traffic in Auburn is generally light, except Thursday-Saturday during "rush hours.""

"Great neighbors who watch out for everyone. I lived there 19 years and wouldn't be moving except my new job is 2 hrs away (4 hour hrs round trip). Horse drawn hayrides, community band, downtown public art, several family owned restaurants (not chains or franchises). This town represents Hoosier Hospitality at its best!"

"It’s not a super large town so it is pretty quiet, but it’s big enough that there’s always something to do and close enough to other towns/city if you want to do something else. "

"Mostly middle class families. Everyone is friendly to one another for the most part. Good school systems and close to Ft Wayne and the lakes in Steuben Co. "

"They live on their porch in 3 of the 4 seasons. I have been their neighbors for over 12 years. They do not know where the property lines are. They do not care for their own yard or house very well. "
- hamguy

"Good sidewalks and paved streets. Excellent city services: garbage, recycling, street cleaning, police patrolled. Normally, slow traffic due to short streets and cul de sacs. Dog owners are considerate of the neighborhood. Quiet and friendly. Homes generally well built and efficient."
