After living in five different states, I'm disappointed in Illinois' standards and lack of funding despite SKY HIGH property taxes. I don't understand the "registration fee" required for every student for 12 years in this state, and I can confirm other reviews that students (and parents) are extremely clique-oriented and students are very entitled. Our child has an IEP and the special education director is more than helpful. Our child has been to 3 different schools, and this was the first time it felt like the IEP team sincerely cared about our child's education and the first time I was truly included as a parent, not just there to sign the IEP. I have always advocated for my child realistically, but at GES your concerns and input will matter to the team. The leadership is amazing. The school is very welcoming. Staff enjoys their jobs and it shows! It's a beautiful, brand new school- great art, music, PE programs too! My child is getting a wonderful education- in the reg. ed. classroom AND special ed. classes. I no longer feel like she is one of the "forgotten" in the "special" classroom. The school truly applies the "least restrictive environment" in their special education program. My child is progressing at a rate like she has never before. She is finally being challenged at her level. I feel like she's getting an education on par with private schools.
