3/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageWe moved here this year. It has been such a relief in comparison to our previous school. So far all of the teachers have been great. Everyone treats my child with respect. A great learning environment.Parent Review2y ago - Longfellow Elementary School

2/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageAs a former student from 12 years ago, it seems that homework structure has changed in the sense that some of it is "pre-made". I've seen several with vague instructions along with English errors and I wonder how a student is suppose to interpret them. Another point is that the student to teacher ratio is much larger now. I remember every grade up until 2nd grade were fairly small classes. Also, our current technology should be able to help understand how students are performing in classes and achieve results like those at the top at the nation, yet it seems as though this school is still 15 years behind. The school does have a good community reach and the kindergarten class is outstanding. In general terms though, the school should be doing much better in terms of math, cognitive thinking, and creativity; all of which help as the backbone of understanding complicated tasks done in high school, university, business, engineering, and everywhere else in everyday life. Overall: Good: Friendly staff, great community, and decent curriculum.Bad: Far behind in education and resources that is expected of an elementary school around the nation. Grades 1-3 lacking behind.-Note all the above is broad due to limited space and one should thoroughly research schools before making a decision and assist their child in achieving their success and transitioning into our society.Parent Review8y ago - Rock Island High School

2/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI used to love the Rock Island/Milan School District. I really did. I took pride the the district and then I saw first hand how administrators (HR department) treated staff members.Parent Review4y ago - Check out schools near 816-818 42nd St.

"From the middle of the city at 6 a.m. the commute is very simple and easy. There isn't much traffic until after 7 a.m closer to school starting and even then, its still not very congested. "

"It’s a good neighborhood I liked growing up here but I plan on moving out of Rock Island for a reason. A lot of people here can be belligerent drunks and the fact that save more now sells alcohol has only made that worse. I use to walk there alone as a kid before but I wouldn’t dare do that now even as a grown adult I won’t walk there alone at night."

"I live walking distance from my job but traffic in this area is never bad. Public transit is limited. There are buses but they run a limited schedule. Never fly in on the last flight of the night and expect to find a cab. They just stop running. "
