What Locals Say about Joliet

  • Trulia User
"There are neighbors that don’t have their pets on a leash and let them roam the neighborhood pooping on everyone’s lawn or urinating the tires of your car; their pets are out all night barking and don’t let their pets inside despite the cold weather. Recommend having a fence up or you will be picking up feces regularly."

"Dogs are always on leashes and always picked up after. Never had an issue with pets in the neighborhood. "

  • Trulia User
"There is a walking trail that is about 13 miles long with parks at different entrances and this trail goes through forests. Nice to walk your dog. One of the parks at an entrence of the trail is a dog park and it tends to be busy, usually plenty of other dogs there. You do have to pay a fee however to bring your dog here."

"Joliet it terrible. I only live here because I was desperate. If I leave my window open at night I'm ALWAYS awakened by some sort of domestic violence outside or people yelling at eachother or fighting. Same goes for my neighbors. I'm getting out of here as soon as possible. I hate it."

"The neighborhood Joliet forgot about. Shootings, gang activity, bums banging on your door at all hours of the night begging for money. Mowing the lawn, I found many used hypodermic needles laying about, not to mention many small baggies. I have never seen a street sweeper in the neighborhood, been here 7 yrs. Only way to get rid of the house, was to let the bank foreclose on it, no one would look at the house when we put it on the market. Not a place for anyone to raise a family, or for elderly. I have 2 attack dogs, I needed them for fear of my life. Never, ever go outside after dark unless you are carrying a weapon. Joliet police do not patrol this area, they are scared to go into the "U" shaped trap."

"I bought my first house 10 years ago on Morgan st. was a great neiborhood. Someone decided to turn a post stamp size piece of land into a 4 unit halfway house and the area has gone down the drain. very few owners acctually live here, lots of teenagers walking around trying to find somethng to get into, unfortunatly its trouble. no neighbor hood watch people are afraid to call police."
