Are you a family with money and the endless ability to cozy up to administration? Then you child is going to have a great time, earn citizenship awards, be the darling of the school and will be pictured in the yearbook endlessly for existing.Is that not you or your family? Well, too bad. Your child will have some caring teachers, counselors who reply to your emails for help with “looks like you need to talk to your kid,” and an administration and district who punishes them by dismissing their talents and abilities. This school can’t even get the kids in the yearbook right. 7th graders are pictured as being in 8th grade, students are cropped out of club photos and there are a ton of pictures of the same kids over and over whose moms essentially bribe the administration with compliments and tokens of appreciation. Pick another school. Don’t make the same mistake we did.

District 58 is becoming a very poorly run school district. The leadership has been making one poor decision after another since COVID started. They are now requesting documents for proof of residency that I don’t have access to. If you have a child with an IEP, they do a very poor job following what is outlined in the IEP. Our family is considering moving out of Downers Grove because of how bad the leadership is.

North is a wonderful high school! It's fun, engaging, offers a ton of activities of all types, and has many exceptional teachers, administrators, students, and parents as part of the community. They offer many types of classes including many AP for those who wish to be more challenged. The counselors were very good with my child and always addressed her questions and concerns. North's Fine Arts Department is exceptional! We are very proud to be a part of the North community.
