9/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageOscar Mayer is a good school. The parent community is very committed to providing resources to the teachers and students, and have historically raised close to $400K per year which ensures there are assistant teachers in all the preK through 3rd grade classrooms, and STEM related equipment. The Montessori curriculum with mixed age classrooms worked well pre-COVID. Despite a harrowing year, my kid's teachers worked hard to ensure they got as good an education as they could deliver during remote learning. I'm glad that they are returning to school in person. My son has been going to school there since kindergarten (he's now entering 3rd grade) and my daughter started there in the preschool program and will now be a kindergartener. I took off a star because the Chicago Public School district and the teacher's union negotiations have been aggravating. For my own sanity, I have stopped following the teacher's union in the news. The actually Mayer school, teachers and staff are top notch. Principal Drayton is hard working, trust-worthy, and does make the children's education a priority.Parent Review2y ago - Lincoln Park High School

9/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageDon’t go to lp if you care about your education. There are some AMAZING teachers but only 1/6 of your teachers will be good. A lot of my time at school was not spent learning or doing anything. There is a lack of structure and nothing is enforced, which was technically a benefit, but also had bad effects. There are pros and cons and I have very mixed feelings about my experience at Lincoln park. I felt like I had a lot of freedom but the school itself feels so much like prison. Many many issues with schedules, the actual schedule itself is terrible because its the same 8 classes everyday. Ive had both 3rd and 7th period lunch and it was miserable having to be starving all day. It feels very self directed and you can do whatever you want. THERE ARE CONSTANTLY SCANDALS AND INCIDENTS. I find it comedic and entertaining at this point but there are so many things going on. Lincoln park IS a fun high school but only if you are social and have friends. Administration is really just lacking in so many areas. This school is A JOKEEE but I love it. Hate it tho. Idk. I wouldn’t want to go to lane or jones or anywhere else though!!!!!Other Review1y ago - Check out schools near 1208 W Montana St.

"I love this neighborhood. The tree lined streets and unique houses make it very enjoyable year round. It’s very central to many neighborhoods in Chicago making it easy to get to Wicker Park, Lakeview, Downtown, and the Lake Path. For being a big city, it’s a very quiet neighborhood. I’ve lived in several different neighborhoods in Chicago and this is by far the most peaceful!"
