"Every year, in the beginning of July we have SITP. Every year, Sioux City really outdoes it self in this event. Everyone comes and just enjoys the music and food. It’s a great time!"

"12-15 minutes through downtown or I can go the long way around up Stone park Blvd. traffic is minimal in almost every part of Sioux City. The worst thing is the lack of planning that seems to happen with City road projects. They need to coordinate the timing better so that not all main traffic ways are down at the same time. Also. The trains in various parts of town can make it difficult during before and after work times. "

"Where I’m located is roughly the downtown area, so anywhere I need to get to isn’t a long drive at all. The city also has many ways of getting around if needed."

"We've lived in this area for 4 years, and we like it. Families walk their kids to school. There's a coffee shop in walking distance as well as a laundromat. Grandview Park has a lot to offer with concerts, movies, a rose garden, playground, and a walking path. The schools are rated as underperfoming, but the staff is wonderful. "

"I was born in Sioux City and still live in the same house 23 years later with my fiance. There are many families with children of all ages in the neighborhood. The streets and sidewalks are kept clean. There are even "Adopt a Street" and "Adopt a Park" programs for people and businesses who take pride in the city and wish to keep it clean. As community events go, from Art Splash to "Mardi Gras" and Awesome Biker Nights, there is something to do that everyone will enjoy. However, these city-wide events, in general, only happen during the summer and autumn. Just few years ago, the farmers market (next to the Tyson Events Center) started to set up shop twice per week. This made healthy choices and locally grown food more accessible to everyone. Most farmers can and will accept food stamps at the farmer's market. I like the farmer who uses an old U-Haul to bring in his produce. Irving Elementary School (site of the former Woodrow Wilson Middle School) is a dual-language school, teaching children in English for half of the day and in Spanish for the other half. All three public high schools have a Gay-Straight Alliance, along with many other extracurricular activities. I'm sure that you're wondering if we have gangs in Sioux City. Well, yes. As a larger city, we do have what amounts to juvenile gangs (2 or 3 of them), but the worst thing that happens is your neighbor's retaining wall gets tagged with spray paint. All in all, everyone is really quite friendly, the worst potholes are always on Ingleside Avenue, and always be sure to leave early just in case there is a train or two."
