My children have both found ways to succeed at SC East High School with supportive teachers and administration. It's a large school, but they know my kids by name and take a personal interest in their success. They have figured out ways to bring out the best in them and have been in communication with me if they noticed any concerns. My children have discovered new interests and potential career paths because of the great guidance they've received in the classroom.

My two children have been at Spalding Park for one year. SP is a large school (over 600 students) but it is well organized and has a positive feel so my kids feel connected and welcomed. When moving to this school I could find very little information so I'm going to try to give some basics. Kids have PE, Art, and Music, Library for younger ones and keyboarding for older ones. There is an hour of each per week and the teachers are excellent, the programs creative and engaging. 30 minutes of recess a day, broken into 10 minute blocks. I found this odd, but I think it works and may serve them better than one long block. There is a good TAG program for the top 5%, but only 30 minutes a week. Class sizes seem to average in the low 20s and teachers are engaged, available and caring. The school uses flexible groupings and students are largely accommodated at their level. Standards based grading is used. The principal is wonderful and available and there is an active PTO. The Kindergarten program is very active, with children moving around the room doing "centers" as well as doing group work. A school garden was started this year. Overall a school that cares and is working well
