5/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThe Bettendorf school district overall has been a complete let down. I have two who’ve attended both the middle school and high school. The middle school made National headlines when dozens of staff quit at the end of the school year in 2021/22. The schools are a haven for favoritism and bullying. Special education is nearly non existent and these children are passed grade to grade even though they don’t meet basic competencies. The violence and drama is concerning; in constantly receiving texts from my children about the things going on at school. Situations I never had to deal with when in school. Do not buy into the hype, Bettendorf schools are subpar, far too many children are being left behind.Parent Review2mo ago - Bettendorf Middle School

6/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI go here, in class of 2028. I am sexually harassed daily, and nobody ever does anything. It’s not just me either. Kids are cussed at by admin, locked in rooms by themselves and interviewed illegally. I’m scared to go to school in the morning. People get physical with me and the school administration just says, “was it a boy? Oh!! He just has a crush on you” or “We have bigger issues like remodeling the outside of the school every 5 years” the inside is crumbling, the toilets squirt water from the handles when you flush, the ceilings are stained with brown marks, there are holes in them too.Other Review10mo ago - Grant Wood Elementary School

7/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI'm new to the district and was suppose to be at Paul Norton, but I must say so far I like this school for the following reasons... 1) Ethnic Diversity 2) Small School Atmosphere 3) Economic Diversity 4) The teachers are proactive and very communicative 5) The principal seems very hands on and efficient 6) The secretary has always been helpful Downsides mostly are with the district... 1) Bus system 2) Grade/Class placementParent Review9y ago - Check out schools near 4050 E 55th St.

"Driving from the middle of town to the east side to drop my child at daycare, then drive downtown takes 15-20 minutes in the morning. Going from downtown to the north part of town in the afternoon takes 10."

"It’s a peaceful little area still close to businesses. I see dogs being walked all the time. I had the chance encounter of finding a dog in the area as well and was able to readily return him with a well labeled tag."

"Watch for idiot drivers, as well as random kids on 4 wheelers. It's not as bad as some neighborhoods and better than most. "

"Everyone has at least 2 dogs. Our block alone is home to 17! We also have a very narrow street and people park their motorhomes right in front of their houses. And there's always at least one guy shooting off fireworks, no matter the time of year. it's a hoot. "

"Lots of children play in the area, the park is a safe and popular area, and the majority of the properties are well maintained? The only negative i have for the area, is that cars seem to travel a bit faster than i would like with all the children who roam the neighborhood. "

"It’s quiet there are good neighbors we have 2 acres so it’s not like we live in the city when we are in our back yard. Stores are very close by and the high school is only 2 blocks away. We have had minimal issues with any crime and what we have had has been very minor. "

"I grew up in this neighborhood and have been back here for 3 years. I love our little West End community. People are friendly, and look out for one another. But they also just let you do you and they don't sweat the small stuff. They mind their own business, and yet care about one another. It's a great neighborhood for laid back people."
