2/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageJust had a student graduate from Jefferson. It's a great school. "GreatSchools.org" fails miserably at properly measuring the impact on their metrics when you have a school with a diverse set of students and needs, including Jefferson's amazing support of students with disabilities. The teachers at Jefferson truly care about your student when they show an interest in being at school, learning and participating. Jefferson excels at fine arts (wonderful new Band directors starting this year, and two fantastic choral directors as well as a solid theater department). Jefferson has also won the state academic decathlon 23 years straight and won the nationals in 2022 - following up in a higher division in 2023 with a 6th place finish. Several recent grads have earned full-ride scholarships to prestigious colleges around the country. Ignore the rating, it's bogus. Jefferson is a great school with great students, faculty and staff.Parent Review9mo ago - Van Buren Elementary School

5/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageMy family and I just moved up to IA from FL and when my kids started, my daughter need help in reading and math. When the school got Kayla's folder from the other school no where in the folder did it show that my daughter need help. I told her teacher that Kayla need help in reading and then her teacher told me that she also needs help in math. In a month, my daughter got the help she needs to get on track for her reading and math, with in 6 months, she is on track with math. She is still get help for her reading. This school didn't wait to get her help. They move in really quiet and get her help. School in FL took the a 1 year and half for them to even get them to test her, to see if she need help.Parent Review13y ago - Wilson Middle School

"it's not a safe neighborhood. there are gunshots on a weekly basis. I do not recommend anyone move to this area, especially if they have children. we have seen police presence, high speed chases, drug deals in the street, people walking their dogs off leash. it's not safe."

"Neighbors are friendly and kind. Neighborhood is great for taking walks and bike rides, and only a short 10 minute walk to Newbo. Pleasant neighborhood that I’ve enjoyed living in, however street lights are not always plentiful or working, so walks may be better taken during daylight. Really feel like this area is quaint and quiet, but just needs a little love from the city to give it a facelift. "
