Description
This property is no longer available to rent or to buy. This description is from October 12, 2021
-This is a newly and tastefully remodeled home in Volcano Village, and it could be what you are looking for! It's perfect for a weekend retreat or residence in this popular community. You can quickly see that the owners are working professionals in glass art, wood crafts, and horticulture. -Special custom touches include: six hand-made stained-glass windows, and fused glass light fixtures over the kitchen countertop and island. Also, a porcelain tile and rock 3’x4’ shower stall, with 2 shower heads. -The kitchen was completely remodeled and now has quartz countertops, a solid acacia wood 4’x6’ island, a stainless-steel sink; and new range/oven, disposal, dishwasher, and microwave. The bathroom was completely redesigned and enlarged with a new shower, flooring, vanity, and plumbing fixtures. -The 2018-2019 renovation involved completely rebuilding “to the studs,” installing hurricane-ties (straps), adding windows (for more light & to view Volcano’s birds), along with all new electrical and plumbing systems. An open floor plan was created, and with the vaulted and open beam ceilings, it created a great place for cooking, relaxing, or entertaining. The walls are now insulated drywall, and the flooring is the amazingly realistic trail oak luxury vinyl plank. -The exterior cedar walls were strengthened and refinished for a beautiful wood look. Renocompare.com: “Cedar wood siding is far and away the most popular type of real wood siding-with beautiful, warm aesthetics, feel and homey aroma." Also, a new sealed polyethylene water tank, pump, pressure tank, and ultraviolet (UV) water purifier were added. -The large 1/2-acre parcel has many beautiful trees, hapu'u tree ferns, a gazebo for a nice picnic area, and plenty of open grassy areas - for you to enjoy amazing Volcano environment. The landscaping combines pleasing orchid and other flowers, with native plants: to attract the native birds found in the yard's many ohi'a trees.

3/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageMy concern is the bullying, especially by other students as well as unqualified teachers and aides who are not equipped to properly handle the special needs student.I served as a school crossing guard for eight years after I retired, and it was always the special needs child that was made fun of, and bullied. Schools need to protect these special students. It can't happen a minute too soon.Wilma LewisI hope this is at the top of the agenda.Other Review8y ago - Mountain View Elementary School

5/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageWhile I am grateful to have graduated from high school, I can't say I'm proud to have graduated from this one. My experience at Keaau High involved frequent exposure to schoolyard brawls, administrative apathy, and laughable courses.I took a woodworks class in which the teacher was so lenient that we spent most of the time cleaning the woodshop, and I learned nothing from that class. I once got harassed by that class' students so severely that I transferred to an art class.I remember how defiant students smeared the bathroom walls with graffiti, and I can't recall the school ever removing the unsightly "art." Not to mention that the school cranked the AC to an intensely high level.I liked a few teachers at that school, a couple of whom I still contact from time to time. But most teachers at the time were either too ineffective or too indifferent for me to remember fondly.Primarily, I felt like Keaau High didn't challenge its students enough and didn't do enough to allow students to be more pro-social.Given that my experience was back in the 00s, a lot has likely changed. I sure hope so, because I wouldn't want a child going to that school if it is still anything like it was back then!Parent Review1y ago - Ke Kula O Ehunuikaimalino
