4/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageKula Elementary greatly exceeds the expectations for a public school. The new principal is excellent- he is involved with the community of the school and is a great cohesive factor between parents, students, & teachers. His presence at the school has been noticeably beneficial to all. The teachers are also invested in their students. Every one of them goes far above & beyond to give the children a quality education, and work as an excellent team. The office staff is friendly & helpful & are familiar with each child. Cafeteria workers are dedicated & provide well rounded lunches that include fresh fruits &whole grains. Kula school has a PCNC who coordinates many fun activities outside of the school day such as Family movie night, Pumpkin carving at Halloween, and Christmas Craft Evening. Parent involvement is very high. The PTA is very active and coordinates funds to support extra-curricular teachers that are not solely paid for by the DOE. Currently they support the PE program through their fundraising. Ideally they support an art program as well. Choice is the students to make, what plays a big part is the parents: what do you do to help your child succeed? Do you help them with their homework? Do you know who your child hangs out with? Do you know what your child does when you are not around? You had a choice to have a child, now do what you can to make your child succeed. Don't blame it on a teacher if your child doesn't want to learn. We put so much on Teacher's to make our child succeed but remember they have 180+ students. Could you make all the students succeed? Don't get me wrong there are some really good teachers that care about the students and school, but there are those who are there for the paycheck. The school offers a wide selection of electives and has one of the best senior project assignments in the state. The school has had many become doctors, scientists, journalist, architects, engineers, and successful businessman. "Keep your doors locked. We’ve had several thefts over the last few years. Fishing gear from backyard, a car from our driveway, and tools out of a truck. Too many homeless nearby"

"Have money to pay expensive day care with no quality for the price. Big waiting list to pay a lot ... there is no much choices off course. Aloha spirit and all will be good . Maui is expensive in general off course. "

"Kihei is a beautiful town on Maui’s South Shore but the lower access road does flood during storms but overall is a great town and the further south u go the more expensive homes and condos get as u near the Wailea and Makena areas "

"Kihei has what I would call a very large transient population of young people settling for short periods, retirees settling for their golden years, many recurring visitors, and of course the locals. This creates a diverse cultural community "

"Pretty safe neighborhood to live in. schools are decent,no major Dow,town area or high school yet. I have not lived here that long however,people seem quite friendly and respectful,there are beaches that are nice around. "

"I've lived in Maui Meadows for a year and am still in love with it's beauty, views, quotes and safe feeling. we hope to stay here long term if we can find an Ohana to purchase in the next year or so. we particularly love being close to the best beaches on Maui!"
