8/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageMy son has attended ELES since he turned three and required early intervention for autism. The special ed program for autism is of such a high quality--far better than what he would have received at the school he would have attended on the East Coast. The principal at ELES is very involved and her leadership shows in the quality of the school. She never misses an IEP meeting. All the teachers and aides my son has had have been phenomenal--knowledgeable and caring and go above and beyond what is required of them.Parent Review9y ago - Kailua High School

5/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageVery positive. The teachers respond to parent inquiries on a timely basis. They are just as involved and supportive as the teachers in the private schools our child attended. The band and ROTC programs are led by exceptional teachers who inspire the students. The 504 counselor and staff in the registrars office are helpful and very positive. I would highly recommend this school. We love the schedule with 4 classes that meet every day for the entire semester. It's much easier than trying to juggle 7 or 8 classes and assignments all year. Fewer subjects with longer class periods every day improve the learning experience. Finishing class time at 2 p.m. allows students to attend practices and rehearsals or work on homework before they are tired.Parent Review5y ago - Kailua Intermediate School

8/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI’m about to graduate from this school. It’s probably the best public middle school on island, although you cannot compare any Hawaii schools to those on the mainland. (Most) Teachers here are the best I’ve ever had mainland or not. Be warned that this school has a serious vaping problem. At any given time, there is at least one person vaping in the bathrooms and they have had to close down all bathrooms except one in the past due to this issue. All in all, good school but has a lot of issues.Student Review4w ago - Anuenue School

"Kailua is a beautiful small town that replicates the spirit of Hawai’i in a community. My grandfather lived and built a small house in Kailua where he raised my mother and her siblings. My mother took over the house where I currently reside. I’ve always loved and lived in Kailua. It’s deep Hawaiian history and ever growing community is beautiful. "

"Good people and beautiful atmosphere, pricey neighborhoods lead to great views and tons of amenities in a coastal community. Schools are best in terms of comparison to other parts of the island, and definitely beneficial to parents with kids requiring a proper and well facilitated education. Streets are clean and safe, traffic is low and quiet, and a decent amount of dining options for special nights out. Transit time to neighboring areas is reasonable depending on departure times. Highly recommended if beaches and outdoor life is a value, as it’s home to two of the top beaches in the world. Outdoor enthusiast will enjoy quick access to great water sports and scenic hikes that surpass expectations. "

"My commute from my neighborhood is awesome compared to other places on the island. I can get onto the H3 which can take me to the west side of the island or I can easily get to the Pali to get to downtown Honolulu. Access to the Likelike through kaneohe which is the next neighboring town to us is easy and can be a great alternate if there’s traffic on either the H3 or the Pali. We can also take a scenic route through Waimanalo to go through Hawai’i Kai to get into town if we wanted to take that option. We have many great options."

"We have multiple events throughout the year. The “I Love Kailua”, really rallies up the whole Kailua community, using entertainment, food, games, etc. Families line up the side of the street for the Holiday Parades. Multiple times in the week we have farmers Markets but Thursday’s farmers market really bring the family together. Our 4th of July fireworks is the perfect way for the entire Kailua to be out enjoying the beautiful sky lights as it is lit up from the art display of the fireworks."

Majority of the people here are very friendly and just have a lot of aloha. There are lots of community events and things that gets the whole kailua involved. I love this place I call home, Kailua."
