You will attend your child’s classes for 10 -15 minutes and get an idea of the years curriculum and expectations. The teachers were extremely welcoming, highly entertaining and have open communication with the parents as well as the kids. I was impressed with the campus, the cleanliness, organization and all around vibration. Coming from a private school background I was hesitant and was initially thinking of transferring him but he is so happy making friends and actually said he loves all of his teachers and they are all “cool” which is rarity! Despite having transferred to Koko Head almost two months late from the UK, everyone from the principal, staff, teachers, and local families collectively made our daughter’s transition a smooth one; even as the school year draws to a close, they continue to make our daughter’s experience an incredibly positive one. Despite their funding limitations, we have been impressed with how hard and selflessly this school has worked to not only create a safe atmosphere, but also to help their students learn how to strike a balance between the importance of having a strong academic focus and a sound character. Our daughter’s 5th grade teacher, Mrs. C.S., is brilliant in that regard; we honestly could not have asked for a better teacher or advocate for our daughter. "NoMa Bid has been creating a huge sense of community in Eckington and NoMa. For one they keep the area so clean and you always see their workers sweeping the sidewalks, changing trashing, maintenance at the dog park. And then there’s the events, most at the A.T. Park and the MBTrail. Movie in the park, farmers market, holiday events like pumpkin patch/contest, and of course the mural walls festival. The trail and park have beautiful murals everywhere and each year local artist renew most of them. (NoMa in Color). Also the dog parks is a big vibe in the area, Eckington Dog Park is the best in the city, but there are 4 in the area. Also, Bouldering Project is a cool bouldering and fitness gym. Theres tons of grocery, restaurants, bars and beer gardens, etc. it’s surround by Union Market, Brookland, Shaw, H Street… all connect my the MBT (bike/walk trail) and NoMa/Gallaudet Metro Station (subway). "
