- Jacob G. Smith Elementary School
7/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageMy only daughter attended PreK thru 5th (2010-2017). We really lucked out this is our neighborhood elementary school. Teachers, Faculty & Staff are all VERY engaged and school is very connected to the community. Latin program was restarted once they were able to locate a Latin teacher who was able to teach elementary age children (not easy to find today & they had unexpectedly lost their previous Latin teacher due to spouse job transfer). Gifted Program for all grades and Safety Patrol for 4th & 5th graders available. The school's tradition is very driven by good citizenship, behavior, and community. Students recite the Pledge of Alligance in English & Latin every morning. Student body is very diverse economically, culturally & racially. Lottery available for some non district students and many come from all other parts of the county because of the small, close knit, high-achieving results. Loved being able to park at Habersham Village and walk my child into school; it gives you a connection to teachers & staff that dropping your child off by car doesn't do. JGSmith has a very active PTA & has recently engaged Dads, grandfathers & male family members in their Mane Men program to promote positive male interaction. Band program is now in full swing along with expanded chorus. Wide variety of community-based events include Book Fairs, Jump-Rope-for-Heart, FunRun, Talent Show, Fine Arts Showcase, Walk & Bike to School Days, Spirit Days, Spirit Nights at local restaurants. In 2016, JGSmith became the 1st National Blue Ribbon Elementary School in Chatham county.Parent Review1y ago

- Myers Middle School
2/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI am not sure how it is today but I can tell you this, I went here years ago and it was horrible. My family had just moved to Georgia from Hawaii and I got stuck going here for 6th grade. I almost failed the year, not because I didn't do the work or because I didn't apply myself, but because I had already been taught the things they were teaching at my previous school. I got bored and gave up when teachers would not challenge me academically. Plus there were fights all the time. Cops were there a lot. And I had a teacher who was inappropriate with female students. After my 6th grade year my parents decided to let me apply for a scholarship to St. Andrews. Thankfully I got it. I don't think I would have made it to college if I had remained here.Other Review5y ago

- Savannah Arts Academy
10/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageMy daughter is in her second year at Savannah Arts Academy and her experience has been wonderful. The school is rigorous and she must work exceptionally hard. But, she is getting a terrific education. The social atmosphere is incredibly welcoming and friendly. There is no inter-student conflict. We could not be happier.Parent Review3y ago
