During the late 18th century, St. Marys was a bustling seaport. Historic sites in the district include the "Washington Oak," the only remaining tree of four oaks planted in 1799 on the day George Washington was buried and the 1808 Presbyterian Church, famous for its historic bell, which was cast by Paul and Joseph Warren Revere.

"The fair, they also dons cute fall festival downtown every year, Fourth of July is awesome, and other events. If you like small towns with a 40ish minute drive to beautiful Florida beaches and can afford to buy the nicer houses or afford the nicer neighborhoods with land in my opinion it’s worth it and a dainty little small town on the waterfront of Georgia "

"People walk their dogs a lot, I used to but their are people down the street who let their pit bull run around unattended. She tried attacking my basset hound. My neighbor saw this unfolding and came to our rescue. If I do walk my dogs I bring someone with me."
