9/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageMy daughter started this school at the 5th-grade level a couple of months into the school year. I was a bit uneasy about her starting later due to us relocating. However, her teachers were very informative and supportive. Within the first quarter Aiyanna had caught up with the rest of her peers; nonetheless, it was due to the involvement, coaching, and patience of the teachers and myself working together. I appreciated them very much; especially her coming in not only as a new student but us as a family not knowing the differences in the curriculums based in her school district she was in prior to us moving to Sarasota county. The teachers actually care about the students' education and are always available when parents reach out or express concerns. They don't just say what parents want to hear and that is appreciated especially as a very involved parent in my child's education; this speaks volumes.Thank you for all that you do! I have a son starting Kindergarten this fall if we lived in the district I'd be sending him to Venice EL as well.Parent Review1y ago - Venice Senior High School

7/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThis is a wonderful and much changed public school. The surrounding area and demographics have grown so much in the past 15 years that the schools in this area have as well. So, the VMS today is not VAMS, as it was formerly called before Noth Port schools existed. VMS is the public feeder school to VHS and has the largest student body in this area, despite the reduced geographic areas mentioned above. This also means that they have the most programs available to serve their diverse population. The Arts programs, the Young Marines program, and the programs designed to support ESE and 504 students set this school apart from the local charter schools because of this reason. Also, the teachers are excellent and certified, as it is a desirable school to teach at in this area, and the principal is supportive. Most students find themselves in a grouped team, depending on classes. For example, students on the gifted team are usually grouped together since they have classes together. This can be a plus if students are worried about attending a school of 800 students. It never really feels that big.Teacher Review9mo ago - Check out schools near 811 Bogie.

"A piece of paradise. Everything is in walking and biking distance. The island has everything from parks, local restaurants, beaches, the jetty, festivals, a library, an art center, a local museum, city basketball, tennis, pickleball, and shuffleboard courts, a children's splash pad, churches, a hospital, and a grocery store. It also has and elementary, middle, and high school where kids can bike to school. At the downtown gazebo there are public concerts and there are often downtown festivals. Every Saturday there's a farmer's market in front of the firehouse. It's golf cart and bike friendly with the famous legacy trail bike trail. You can visit the public beaches, fish from the city pier or jetty, or venture out for an isolated stroll along Casperson's beach, known as the shark's tooth capital of the world. Botique shops, ice cream shops, and local restraunts provide plenty to do year round. Perfect for families or retires. "

"There is a dog beach/park where people and pets mingle. I've never seen anyone walking a dog outside of that area without a leash. Pets and pet owners appear to be happy.. as are the non pet owners who get to pet the dogs and talk to their owners. "

"I’ve lived on Venice Island for four years. I love how people always acknowledge each other with a cheerful greeting. And I love having a supermarket, drug store, banks, post office, restaurants, art and exercise classes, theatrical and musical performances, and the beach all within easy walking distance. A very strong sense of community, with fun holiday parades and festivals throughout the year. Dogs are welcome at sidewalk cafes and there’s even a dedicated Dog Beach where dogs can run free and swim."
