8/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThis school might have been “the place to be” 10 years ago. But now it’s nothing more than a bunch of bratty cliquish loud mouth students that day and do mean things to each other. If your child is new, and learns a little differently and is unique, don’t expect him or her to have any friends or have good encounters with the cliques that are steadfast in place. The parents are what makes a good school as well, and these parents are not very involved or friendly. I moved from out of state and am just shocked at how this high rated school is really run. The only good thing is we have an excellent teacher and the materials are challenging. But it’s hardly a good learning environment. Also, the school is not very secure and has major safety issues.Parent Review5y ago - Gamble Rogers Middle School

4/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI was worried going into 6th grade about the more advanced classes, but they are actually amazing! There are many opportunities for High school credit, including Spanish 1, Biology, Algebra 1, and Geometry. Many teachers are very kind and supportive, and the majority of them (electives and core classes) seem to genuinely love their job and care about the kids. The guidance counselors are helpful and cooperative; my interactions with mine, Mr. Canoura, have always been pleasant and productive. Administration sends out weekly newsletters that (unlike others) are actually quite informative. There are lots of fun electives, including agriscience, (which was one of the most interesting and hands-on classes I’ve taken) which is unique to only this middle school in the county. I’ve found comfort in many staff members here, but I would like to specifically shout out Ms. Garner, the media specialist, for always checking up on the students, and forming connections with everyone. Overall, this is a wonderful school.Student Review1y ago - Pedro Menendez High School

5/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageMy daughter attended Pedro Menendez high school after being harassed by the disgusting children in the school. We asked for a schedule change, they agreed and when my child showed up to her schedule they put in TWO MORE CLASSES with the bullies after we stated the names of the bullies and was not only effecting her mental health but also her education.. This school still DOES NOT care about any student safety and mental health issues all they care about is dress code. Do not enroll your child here!Parent Review1y ago - Check out schools near 201 Tropic Way.

"I rarely see a dog in my neighborhood. There isn’t any dog owners on my street. I work 12 hour shifts Monday thru Friday. I leave home when it’s dark and I get home before dark most days."

"The downtown area is among the best including the bars, restaurants and local shops. The Plant Street market and Crooked Can brewery are great hangouts. The city creates fantastic holiday and seasonal celebrations in DTWG. And the surrounding neighborhoods are all connected by a golf cart district."

"I have lived here since 2017 and I absolutely love this neighborhood. It's quite, friendly, safe and very child friendly. There is never any crime and you hardly ever hear emergency sirens. Every single neighbor has been wonderful and polite except one. "

"Best place to live in DC. It’s a beautiful neighborhood that is urban but not downtown. It’s all about the park and trail, tons of restaurants, things to do, grocery stores, markets, bar. Has its own metro in easy walking distance and a trail that connect you to the east side of the city. "

"NoMa Bid has been creating a huge sense of community in Eckington and NoMa. For one they keep the area so clean and you always see their workers sweeping the sidewalks, changing trashing, maintenance at the dog park. And then there’s the events, most at the A.T. Park and the MBTrail. Movie in the park, farmers market, holiday events like pumpkin patch/contest, and of course the mural walls festival. The trail and park have beautiful murals everywhere and each year local artist renew most of them. (NoMa in Color). Also the dog parks is a big vibe in the area, Eckington Dog Park is the best in the city, but there are 4 in the area. Also, Bouldering Project is a cool bouldering and fitness gym. Theres tons of grocery, restaurants, bars and beer gardens, etc. it’s surround by Union Market, Brookland, Shaw, H Street… all connect my the MBT (bike/walk trail) and NoMa/Gallaudet Metro Station (subway). "20 minutes to town, one can go through downtown 25 mph or there are other roads through the countryside that have no lights and higher speed limits to get to the other end of town. 30 min to Carson City. One hour to Reno"

"Dogs that can’t be controlled by the owners. It puts you and your dog at risk because as you can imagine it’s larger dogs causing issues. Also people who may not live in your building walk dogs over in your area and leave feces."
