Santa Rosa County boasts some of the best schools in Florida, and Berryhill Elementary is no exception to the rule! This school is safe, regularly meets and exceeds state testing scores, and has been a wonderful fit for our family. Berryhill sends their students to PE and recess each day, so they're always getting some physical exercise. The cafeteria has several options for lunch, and the students can even get ice cream. I have been encouraged to visit my son's school several times, both for school-wide events like the Halloween parade and for classroom events like Mystery Reader. His class even went on a field trip to a farm last fall, and I was impressed how organized each class was. When visiting the school, you must show ID before entry, and name tags have to be returned before leaving (doors are always locked). Children have tons of resources, including a special art classroom and library. My son has made tons of friends and actually enjoys going to school, and I have felt comfortable reaching out to his teacher with any questions. I would recommend Berryhill Elementary to anyone.

Bullying is insane! Staff does nothing and no matter how many times it’s brought up it gets brushed under the rug! And they only care about test scores. Teacher Tamara Philips is THE WORST MATH TEACHER I have ever stumbled on! If your child struggles with math already, avoid her as their teacher because she will not give help when it’s asked for and says”refer back to notes” as if that will teach a child! Simply put she doesn’t teach! She’s a robot spewing information and nothing more! She also posts inappropriate content on her Facebook that demeans students and parents! Very unprofessional. If your child is not good at testing but has straight A’s they still place them based solely on the test scores which in most cases just dumbs down the student and they learn nothing all year only because they don’t do well on tests! Worst school experience ever for my child! We won’t be back next year!

my child has been in this school for a few months now and wow the bullying in this school is atrocious! Teachers do nothing about it. The principal could care less. No one picks up phones when you have a question or concern. They’re always “in meetings.” The children don’t even get a full class lesson because teachers and students are too busy goofing off on their phones! It’s like a giant playground at this school and the teachers are just as bad as the students. My child witnesses daily occurrences of teachers sitting on Tiktok and watching videos with other teachers during class time! This school needs a whole new staff clean up! This place is a joke.

Cons: This school is not for someone looking for any "easy out" of the traditional brick and mortar school. The coursework is very time consuming. Many typical daily assignments in the virtual school would be broken down and completed as multiple assignments over weeks at a traditional school. The virtual school also expects the student to have a firm handle on all basic computer programs; including Powerpoint presentations, Excel, Word processing, emailing, submitting audio files, digital files, etc. For someone just starting out, the time it takes to learn the programs and processes of submitting work via the internet has to be accounted for. This is my son's first year at the school and he has learned both subject material and computing skills. Pros: The system keeps parents aware of what is going on with the student and in a very timely manner. All teachers are quick to respond, and test & assignments are graded and recorded within hours (sometimes minutes) of submittal. - The curriculum is engaging and thorough. - Classwork is extremely portable and accessible at anytime.
