6/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThis school doesn't really care about the well-being of a student academically. The teachers are somewhat engaging, and some don't teach well. Every day I'm discouraged to learn because of the way the school is. I wouldn't recommend your child stress I have as an 8th grader, I shouldn't have to stress about how I'm going to get my homework done late at night because teachers don't put into consideration that we have 6 classes. Too much stress as a kid and the teachers don't make me enjoy going there.Student Review11mo ago - Dr. Gilbert L. Porter Elementary School

5/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageAs a parent being involved in the school, I’ve witnessed different things I really dislike. First, the school lacks leadership. Ms. Fins is not an involved Principal. This school lacks school spirit. Personally, that’s important for the motivation of the student body. The school rating speaks for itself. Secondly, the sports program is awful. The coaches are unfair and the students are not given a fair chance for the try outs. It’s who you know that gets you in the team. Third, the teachers lack motivation to teach. Don’t get me wrong some teachers a great and enjoy what they do and teach. Others, just go for the paycheck and lack the responsibility of teaching. Finally my over all thought on a scale from 1-10 from my experience seeing what I’ve seen is, it all starts at the top with the leadership. Ms. Fins either needs to get more involved with her faculty and especially the students or it’s finally time for a change. She’s been a principal since 2000 when the school opened and it’s time for new leadership. The school rating speaks for itself. The test scores speak for themselves. It’s a shame that the school board doesn’t see and take action on these scores. It’s important for parents to see and feel that their kids are well taught and having fun at the same time. I believe that goes hand in hand for a successful school and for the future of the students.Parent Review9mo ago - Check out schools near 11291 SW 155th Ct.
