10/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI think it’s important to review and do research on the teacher specifically. I was not pleased when my son came home saying “I just can’t learn things” and “I have a bad memory”. Those narratives were not learned at home. The teacher emailed to say that my son “had a lot of energy” for his age… When I asked for more details patterns etc and inquired about lunch options, I got no response, just more complaints. Then, I found a doughnut in his backpack entirely made of sugar… I later learned that this same teacher convinced one parent that her son had a learning disability. After getting evaluated the Mom found out this wasn’t true. I LOVED the staff and the school in general, we just had a bad teacher. I pulled my son and did at home schooling and he did wonderfully. All and all, the school is adorable, has a great library and nice murals inside. I was upset that he wasn’t learning much in school and that he had so much homework in kindergarten none the less. I felt like I was spending hours each day teaching him myself. When we transitioned to FLVS I spent the same amount of time and he was learning even more. We ended up saving time and money by home schooling. I would really like to send him back to school but I am nervous that we will get a bad teacher again. I know a couple other kids switched teachers. Honestly, I should have reached out to the principle sooner. She was responsive once I did, but by then I think I had made up my mind to pull him out and it would have been hard for her to switch him out since 2 or 3 other already had… Aftercare was another thing we tried and they say they help with homework but they don’t really. Teaching is a tough job… I hope this school has more luck in retaining good teachers in the future. I was sad to make the switch as I really did love the overall atmosphere. I just couldn’t let the poor narratives my son was developing, continue. I was afraid that would effect his learning ability for life. And, my son is extremely energetic… But, he is also eager to please. I wonder if more “up” time and less busy work and a more experienced teacher could have made a big difference. Overall I do recommend this school. Just be extra inquisitive as to your children’s learning experience. He was starting to get bullied a bit as well so we put him in karate and pulled him out. But again, I wouldn’t judge an entire school by one bad apple. I later heard that the teacher had been fired from a previous school.Parent Review2y ago - Seminole Ridge Community High School

5/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageWe love this school. We transferred from a charter school in Broward were my child was bullied and nothing was done because the bully was another teacher’s child. At this school my children bloomed; emotionally and academically. The communication with administrations is excellent. The school keeps us informed of everything that’s going on. My child absolutely loved the 6th grade year experience and was excited to go school everyday. I was delighted to see that the guidance counselor was involved in social and emotional learning as well.Everyone is extremely polite and friendly and I’ve never had any issues. My child enjoyed all her teachers and scored high on state exams.Parent Review9mo ago - Village Academy On The Art & Sara Jo Kobacker Campus
