    "Oak Hills is a racially mixed neighborhood populated by predominantly middle income working class families. It has both small 2/1 starter homes and larger 4/3 family and retiree homes post-children. Most homes are 2/2 or 3/2 with small families--most with pets as well. Many of these older homes, built in the late 50's and early 60's, have pools. Some homes are rentals, though they are mostly to the east near the fundamental middle school. There are sidewalks on both sides of the street, and there is nightly street lighting. There is a YMCA public park complex newly updated near the school. Small parks are within walking distance, including one near the neighborhood pond. Bus routes are also available within a short walk. Grocery stores and fast food/restaurants are within 1 mile. A public golf course and airpark are within .5 mile. Generally it is a quiet neighborhood, though Palmetto St is a busier thruway for emergency vehicles and is also busy during the school start/stop hours. There is a school zone. Neighborhood driving speed is 25mph, though speeders are often on Palmetto Street. Many homes decorate for the holidays and numerous children Trick or Treat safely, even coming from nearby neighborhoods to participate. There is no parking on the streets, so parking is limited to personal driveways and garages, or on yard property. Electric and communications are delivered by pole lines. Large trees edge the streets, originally planted by the city in the late 50's. The city maintains these now large trees. Neighborhood wildlife includes racoons, possum, squirrels, ducks, geese, fruit rats, bats, herons, ibis, songbirds, owls, hawks, armadillos, snakes, toads, frogs, lizards, turtles, and tortoise. There are no known sinkholes in the area. The fresh water table is very high, and many homes have shallow wells to support irrigation systems, though the overall neighborhood is elevated high within the county, and homes are NOT in a flood zone."
