What Locals Say about Dover

"Affordable cost of living meets above average schools and good quality of life. I’ve lived here for 10 years and find it an excellent town to raise a family. "

"There is a local park which is nice and maintained. Plenty of shops within a very short driving distance and restaurants. Nice school district of my kids can play outside safely"

"Very violent community and is not pet friendly . No one owns a pet in the apartment complex so it would likely be an bad option for a pet owner ! "

"It’s very easy to get in and out of the neighborhood. White Oak rd can be busy closer to 13 but this far back is great. Very close to Route 1 and lots of back road to drive to clear your mind when needed. Also still close to shopping, main road and highways, and Dover AFB."

"I walk my dogs at all times & see many other dog owners walking around too. there's also parks & places for the dogs to play all around town."

"It’s mostly a positive place for pets, but there are a few owners who struggle to keep their animals on leases and others that allow their pets to bark or be loud for long periods of time."

"Dover is a city just like any other good and bad areas. Though small still homey feeling. I prefer more out west of Dover more of a rural feeling"

"Not much space or area to walk a dog. Dogs must remain on a leash. Please pickup the dog waste and place a bag."

"I’m indifferent about Dover. I’m conflicted about how I feel about this city. The crime has increased just like most densely populated areas. There are positive aspects but they don’t outweigh the negative. "

"There are a lot of good schools in Dover. There are also a lot of downtown activities held in the city center at the “green”. There isn’t a lot of crime in my neighborhood either. "

"There are many kids in the area and there is a park down the street. They’re also really friendly. The Reily Brown Elementary school is very close. I’ve been in this neighborhood since I was a small child and I always felt safe walking to the park with friends."

"Love it, neighborhood is friendly and full of children. Many dog walkers and I hardly ever have a owner leave poop on my lawn. I haven’t witnessed crime. I do see people walking along the streets but I think it’s due to public transit being near by overall great place "

"There bad projects and low cost trailer parks down the road , so there is a lot of shootings (gun shots being fired)! So called drug dealers down the street and some child molesters, therefore I wouldn’t raise young children in this neighborhood!"

"I lived in the neighborhood almost 3 years and it is very quiet. Be wary, they over charge for apartments in the spring and summer. I started payimg 975 a month for a 1 bed 1 bath in summer, come February they were offering 1 beds for 700-800. I am now ony 3rd lease and am only paying under 1060 because i agreed to a 15 month lease. There are people staying in 2 & 3 bed room apartments for less than what i am paying. They also increase rent every year. Also, when they say a room has been renovated, that just means they updated it from 1950's appliances to 1970's appliances. There is nothing renovated about my apartment, though they claim it is. It looks just like one of those cheap hotels."
