7/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI absolutely love this school. They have always been kind, courteous, caring, etc., more than you could ever ask for in teachers and staff. My experience has been positive for now three years. They work with kids of all abilities and encourage all to do their best. I hope to be able to have my kids go here for years to come.Parent Review7y ago - Torrington High School

2/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThis school's students are atrocious. My peers here are mismanaged and extremely disrespectful, often racist, and extremely unprepared, and seniors somehow have the right to bully people and get away Scott-free because of senior privilege, the freshmen are very annoying and disruptive, and many people vape. The staff varies from literally corrupt to actually trying to do their job, the punishment system is rigged, they force you to put your phones into stupid little pouches and will take and hold your device until a parent picks it up for you if you fail to comply. The punishment worsens more and more until you reach expulsion. The food here can vary and thus far has been good aside from many cases of spoiled milk being handed out. The lunch ladies try their best, be nice to them.Special ed kids are treated like rabid animals here by kids in regular curricular teachings and frankly if you decide to put your kid into this school while they need special needs for whatever cursed reason, there are two groups for them:- Thrive Program- Life SkillsFights are common and so are rumors. They regularly host events and such but unfortunately they are not talked about much. The admins are amazing people and are very worth talking to.They give out MacBook Airs, which sounds good at first until you realize that:- They are easy to break.- They are costly if broken, even a little.- You have to pay 50 dollars for temporary coverage on the first accident.(these tend to literally kill themselves i kid you not)- And your child can do things they are not supposed to do on there very easily. All in all, this school isnt worth it, there are many better options, but if you dont have any other options, and have to send your kid here, support them all the way through, it'll be rough. Thank you for reading.Student Review1mo ago - Torrington Middle School

3/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageMy daughter has gone to TMS for 2 years so far. Safe to say i’m so glad to get her out of this school. She’s had some issues with other students and the counselor’s & administration did nothing to help. A specific teacher has been harassing my daughter for many months now. She’s followed my around in stores and has screamed in my daughters face during school all because she walked down the wrong hallway. Definitely filing a complaint on that woman. Don’t even get me started on the YONDR pouches. stupidest idea ever. instead of spending $80k on school books or fixing the broken ceilings. The idea of not allowing communication from students to parents is ridiculous. Absolutely ridiculous. Students shouldn’t be on their phones during class but in the case of an emergency all students should have access to a cell phone to contact parents or even 911. School is terrible. So is southwest. Please do research before sending your children here!!!!Parent Review11mo ago - Check out schools near 30 Iowa St.
