Description

This property is not currently for sale or for rent on Trulia. The description and property data below may have been provided by a third party, the homeowner or public records.
Built in 1851 by the great-great grandson of one of Killingworth's founding fathers, the Ulysses S. Hull House is a Greek Revival Cape with distinctive eyebrow windows creating an eye-catching and unique facade. The current owners have lovingly restored many original features while updating the mechanicals in this comfortable post and beam home. The first floor features a north and south parlor (living room and family room), a dining room with central Rumford style fireplace and functional beehive oven, a beautifully remodeled kitchen with cathedral ceiling, laundry room, a small bedroom and full bath. A wonderful loft overlooks the kitchen, a perfect reading nook for young ones! The second floor has two more bedrooms, a den and playroom with vaulted ceilings, an unfinished space used for storage/workshop and a full bath. There is a walkup attic and full basement adding plenty of storage. The 2.7 acre lot has the original stone foundations of a former barn and shed, as well as stonewalls outlining the animal pens and grazing pastures of this once thriving farm. An 1850 post and beam barn measuring 30x20 has been relocated from Milford, MI and completes this tribute to the 19th century. 21st century mechanical updates include newer propane furnace, 200 amp electrical service, new septic system, newer well with new pump, and a 10 year old roof. A truly special home in southern Killingworth-rural yet a two hour drive to Boston and NYC.

  • Brian
"We live in a rural area where our dog has a fenced yard, but can also run around the non-fenced area and it is safe. Our dog is welcome at the transfer station, city hall, along with the many parks in the area. Most people clean up after their animals, although there is always a few that don’t. "

  • Brian
"We live on acreage down a private gravel drive. We love the fact that we see wildlife each day, are not annoyed by speeding cars passing our home, and love the tranquility and peacefulness of our neighborhood. We have the best of both worlds, living in a rural community, and work in the city of New Haven which is about a 30-minute drive. "
