7/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageStandley Lake high school is a great place to go to high school, though not without problems. While other schools in the area might have more funding or an objectively nicer facility, they tend to have a far more toxic culture than SLHS (I'm mostly talking about Ralston Valley, and not as a joke, that school has serious issues with homophobia, racism, and general toxic behavior). If you live in the area or are interested in the IB program, there isn't really a better option mOther Review5y ago - Manning Options School

7/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThis school supports all students and helps me as a student with special needs succeed. Many of the negative reviews are from when the school had a different principal. I have had bad experiences with some teachers but most are thoughtful and expect all students. Although this school has some dumb rules and high goals. I have found that they do a lot to help students succeed.Student Review6mo ago - Wayne Carle Middle School

5/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageWorst middle school I’ve seen in a while. The drugs, bullying and fighting seem normal at this school. Only a few adults truly seem to care. The schools way of handling everything is to suspend kids and not deal with the problems. Kids are afraid to say anything. DO NOT SEND YOUR KIDS HEREParent Review1y ago - Dennison Elementary School

8/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageUnfortunately All five of my siblings and I had the "opportunity" to go to D'Evelyn. However as many would assume/expect that we were lucky, it was the complete opposite experience. I would never recommend this school to anyone... it is actually HORRIBLE. 4/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageIf you care about your child's education, then do not go to this school. No grades, no real guidance, no discipline, no structure and no motivation geared towards actual education. It does not hold kids accountable, does not teach responsibility and does not set kids up for success.Parent Review1mo ago - Jefferson County Open Secondary

4/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThis school only works for a very small number of learners. The quality of teachers is really hit or miss. The ideology behind this learning environment is student lead learning. Unfortunately if you have anything other than an outstanding teacher the student is left to fail academically while shouldering the blame for not being self-directed. A few students thrive, unfortunately many are poorly prepared academically for life after high school. The administration is unwilling or unable to fully accept responsibility for the safety of their students during school hours. Drug use, alcohol consumption, and sex on campus does occur at this secondary school which shares a campus with K-6. Do not accept the hype that the community environment is so great that these students respect the rules. I was recently informed that 1/2 of the class in one of my students electives chooses to regularly not attend that class. No attendance is recorded and they are simply unaccounted for during this time. This did not seem problematic to the teacher at all. I'm unsure how this compares to other schools. I was surprised this type of behavior existed, since the number of students that are enrolled at JCOS is so low, and the advisers claim to be deeply invested. The administration's response is that the students are choosing to break the rules and it is not the schools philosophy to police them. There are very few extra curricular activities offered through the school. There is almost no focus on physical education. PE classes that do exist have almost entirely male enrollment. A holistic approach to education is not embraced here. The exceptional outcome that occasionally occurs at this school is promoted as the norm. Please be aware that it is not.Parent Review5y ago - Check out schools near 8259 W 90th Pl #1503.

"I work from home and live near the HWY 36 and Wadsworth exchange. Because it’s mostly multi family units in my area there’s only a few walkable places. Mainly however if you live in the Arista neighborhood. I can’t speak for the more established neighborhoods. "

"I don’t go to any gatherings anymore. I walk my son’s dog twice a day; day and night. However, I don’t walk alone. The dog walkers are mostly very friendly. But, people with aggressive dogs on their yards are very obnoxious and unfriendly. I like the neighborhood very much because my neighbors are all wonderful people. "

"I’m renting temporarily. It’s ok. The uniqueness is how friendly the dog walkers are with everyone, which I truly like. Noisy dogs are tolerated 24/7 because we are all pet lovers. "

"To protect their children from strangers. This neighborhood is old. Many elderly people live here. The HOA is relatively doing its job, kind of. On Halloween, no children came to our door, which it is odd. Walking my dog, I am able to find waste containers. But, I don’t think these people are friendly. The dogs behind our rental home suffer from excessive barking. I’m so looking forward to move out of this neighborhood and go to a friendlier one away from here."

"The one neighborhood event someone tried to organize didn't come to fruition; having said that, everyone is friendly, and it seems that everyone is there for their neighbors when they're needed. It's an established neighborhood and a lot of the neighbors have known each other for years, if not decades."

"The rent that keeps going up due to people from other states, I enjoy the area but the rent around here isn’t going to stay the same, it goes up and especially in this king of market "

"It’s a nice neighborhood but do have a major complaint; as a dog owner, I walk my dog twice a day for four miles. The problem with this neighborhood is the lack of enough dog waste containers for dog owners to throw it away. I have calculated that it takes me 1/4 of a mile to find a container. Sometimes, it has taken me half a mile to find one based on my route throughout Lexington, The Preserve and McKay Shores. The HOA for each subdivision should add dog waste containers throughout these neighborhoods landscaped areas, if they want to continue their beauty. "
