There has been a lot of transition in teachers and administration and in typical 8th grade fashion...the students test their boundaries. The changes being made are great and in a few years, if the current principal stays...it will be a very good school. N/AGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI am overly impressed with the amount of commitment and care the teachers and staff at Somerlid Elementary have shown on a daily basis. The teachers are active, involved and never too busy to speak with a parent. They work directly with students to allow them to improve and be challenged. Parental involvement is strongly encouraged and accepted. Everyone at this school wears a smile on their face and is open, friendly and accepting to everyonet hat walks in the door. The principal is actively involved with teachers, students and parents. He has always been available for me to speak with one on one and never rushes out before the conversation is over. My children have been a part of several school with "good ratings" and I have always been sorely disappointed. Somerlid has far exceeded our expectations. "Houses are so close together you get to know the neighbors very well. My neighbor across the street lives in his garage and keeps the door open. He is always the first person to greet you when you step outside. "

"People are nice, houses are nice but backyards are small so you might not be able to set up a swing set or dig in a pool. The location is very convenient as it is within walking distance to the grocery stores, pharmacy and bank. As well as your local Starbucks."

"My neighborhood is very pretty and lively and safe but it is getting busier. The homeowners have between 3 to 4 cars since their children have grown up and are now cars parked on the street whereas there were none when we moved here. For me, the commute to work and my son’s school is inconvenient as well as extracurricular activities but everything else from banks to pharmacies stores and grocery stores are here. The location is good, it was better before so now, the other part of Pueblo north seems the way to go."

"My community is safe and quiet. There are a few sidewalks and nearby bike lane. However, no community parks around. You can see people often walking their dogs. "

"I like my neighborhood, it can be scary at times but I think we can use some more street lights. But other then that it can be peaceful and regardless this will always be home. "
