6/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI have loved working at the da Vinci Academy for the last three years. I am a military spouse and I have worked in three states (6 schools) during my husband's career. The da Vinci Academy staff is loving, kind, and caring like no other school I've had the privilege to work in. If you are considering coming here please know what we DO and DO NOT do. We do NOT teach exclusively art. This is not an ART school. It's an Arts Integration school. We offer a rigorous curriculum that aligns with state and district standards. We teach normal math, reading, science, social studies, etc. Your student will have tests, homework, and other "normal" school experiences. However, we teach with an art integration focus. That means that your child can engage in art in three ways. The first is art just for the sake of art. This happens in the Encores, which some people call our extracurriculars. The second is art-enhanced teaching. This is going to be adding an art component to core instruction like painting your spelling words with watercolors. The third way is true arts- integration. This is when your student will display what they have learned using an art standard. For example, my students recently used drama and movement standards to create a dance showing the movement of objects in space (rotation and revolution of the sun, moon, and stars. We DO offer a communication and sensory department. This department specialized in incorporating students with communication and sensory needs into the classroom. These are usually kids on the autism spectrum. I consider it an amazing bonus that we get to have this program at our school. The people who work in this department are so kind and bend over backward looking for ways to meet the individual needs of neurodivergent kids. We are NOT a behavior school. We do not have the programming or staff to support students with severe behavioral needs. If your student struggles in this way this is NOT the best fit for them. Our district has three schools on the elementary level that can support those needs we are just not it. We DO offer both resources and a gifted and talented program. At this time we only have one of each so although we can support most resource needs we only pull out of class for 3-5th gifted and talented needs. 9/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageHello! This is an interview coming from a graduate- in one of the worst years to graduate (Class of 2020!). I am currently a student finishing up my junior year at a small school in Nebraska. I want to set the record straight on the school- words have a lot of power, and true ones need to be said. Let me first say that any school has its ups and downs. There are always going to be hard or rough experiences. I am saddened by the poorer reviews of the school and for the bad experiences. But aside from that. . . Overall, this is a really solid school. As a now college junior, I was very well-prepared by TCA. The challenging classes were difficult at the time, but they have prepared me effectively for college in a way that a lot of my peers are still lacking. The school does have a bit of a stigma of being performance-based- but I would argue, as someone who actually attended it (not just a parent who has not actually experienced a class there) that this is caused more by the student body, not the school, or its teachers or administrators. I went to the school all the way through- kindergarten through 12th grade, and yes, I had the off-teacher here and there who I didn't like, or who was honestly not a good teacher (I know now how to evaluate these things, as I am an education major). But even with that, the majority of teachers and admin here were supportive. It is a tight-knit and caring community. I am still great friends with many of my high school friends and teachers. As for the extracurricular pressure... This is caused by other students. Being in a high school means being subjected to some of society's most judgmental people- teenagers. I never had a teacher or administrator push me to succeed in extracurriculars, in all honesty- it was just them telling me good luck on races (also yes, I was a cross country runner. More on this later). The culture of high-success was not teacher driven. The last thing I'll say is that I ran cross country in High School. The review on this sight that says practice was 3-6 is extremely exaggerated. Unless things have really drastically changed that much in 3 years, practice when I was there was only 3:30-5:30. Two hours. The average for a sports practice. And running, fyi, does require that much practice if success is desired. All this to say, TCA is a great school and worth sending your kids to. "The area is growing which means there is a lot of traffic, in the past year there have been at least four or five very nice apartments complexes that were built. Please be watchful of your children. There are a couple of movie theaters, recreational parks, churches, restaurants. "

"I live here and it's a really beautiful and safe area. We have excellent views of the mountains and the neighborhoods are very well maintained. It's just on the other site of I-25 from the Air Force Academy. There are no jets at the academy, so there isn't any noise from there. If you like college football, it's right there too."

"Living here is just right. The neighborhood is safe and family friendly. The streets are wide and clean, and the homes are well built. The HOA dues are very reasonable compared to other nearby areas. We are strategically positioned to have easy access to I-25, the Air Force Academy, Monument shopping and amenities, as well as the Chapel Hills Mall . You'll love it here. Come see for yourself! "
