Davis High is a great school with great teachers. My son is a senior and has had a great experience. Competition is pretty high as the town (Davis) is a small community with a very large University of California campus, and thus is filled with parents who have advanced degrees and very high academic standards. I suspect academically weaker students will feel this, but on the other hand academically talented students will have the opportunity to excel. If your child is not academically strong (or at least average) they may be best served by other alternatives in Davis (Da Vinci High), a private school, or in nearby high schools.

We have 2 children that have been to MME, CCE and Willett at various times. All 3 schools have things we like and don't like. With MME, the things we liked are: - The small school size thus closer community feeling. From the principle, to teachers to parents, we always felt being included despite my kid started at 1st grade instead of K like many other families. When moving up to the next grade, most kids get to stay in the same class so a lasting friendship is easy to build. When my kid attended another school with 3-4 classes at each grade, a good friend at one grade could become a stranger when they are in different classes next year. - The Spanish immersion/bilingual program is a well run program. Parents who value language/culture are easy to bond together. - Davis Parent Nursing School is on the same campus which is very convenient for families with preschool aged younger sibling. - Beautiful campus and right next to the large soccer field. The things we don't like about MME is: - No AIM program. - Despite the hardworking of the principal and teachers, the school consistently gets PI status which is discomforting and discouraging.

Harper is a terrible school. The education is bad and the staff is horrible. But the sports are good hence why I gave 1 star.
