5/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI realized my son was struggling with reading in first grade. I found out that they were making him memorize "sight words" instead of teaching the proper way with phonics. I was told that he was doing great in all subjects at his parent confference. I also found out that the method of using "sight words" was intended for children that were deaf. A normal child would develop dyslexia. So when i told his first grade teacher, she told me that the district told her to teach that way. My only conclusion is that it was intentional. "its a small neighborhood and not so crazy. you wouldn't think this side of El Monte would be calm do to all the homeless but there not Even crazy to mess with you. "

"Hectic, no parking. Drive super far for work. Parties every weekend. I’m a mid 20’s guy. Who would rather live somewhere else. Crimes happen often. "

"it m akes it a unique city because everything is close to home. Even though the are is not what u expecte tobe , for example not safe to walk aound late hours or walk because there are no sidewalk in many of the blocks around the area "
