7/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageMy son has been at Roosevelt since Kindergarten and will be entering his final year next Fall. To say we are delighted with the school and teachers would be an understatement. Every year we have been so pleased with his teachers, all of whom have been kind, empathetic and with a gift for inspiring our son to participate, strive to reach his fullest potential, and treat his peers with respect. I truly appreciate the school's stance on social justice issues and not shying away from educating our children (in an age-appropriate way) about the world around them, particularly as they get older. I am beyond thankful particularly to his teachers, each of whom have clearly invested lots of time, energy and patience in helping us parents raise kind, thoughtful and responsible kids.Parent Review4mo ago - Santa Monica High School

9/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageGood to see the score on Great Schools has gone up over the years. I had some reservations before my kids attended looking at the reviews. Now, I am SO grateful for this school and the district. It's a diverse school that offers quality education for my two sons who are pretty different. One is academic and can take lots of advanced classes, have a strong cohort that spurs each other on, and lucky for him he is into music. Samohi's music program is INCREDIBLE. He's performed in Carnegie, the Berlin Philharmonic, Dublin. My younger son is more athletic and has a 504. His volleyball coach, the AP Lit teacher, goes way above and beyond, organizing team travel, potluck lunches in his classroom, etc. The counselors really know them. And I love that they have fun, school spirit, and friends with a lot of variety which is another important kind of education you can't get in private schools - some in public housing, some extremely wealthy, kids from different cultural backgrounds. The previous superintendent did an incredible job dealing with crazy parents, covid, and introducing ACES curriculum before the state did.Parent Review4mo ago

"it is a good area to walk a dog but it is not safe because of a lot of mentally ill people living on the curbs or at Reeds Park. it is a shame that this area used to be very nice, but now it is deteriorating very fast. over all it is not safe to walk after sunset."

"Hit and miss....I also have a dog and pick up from him what’s left on the greens. Perhaps I should be better and pick up other droppings but I don’tmostly but sometimes...as a community let’s Not roll over in ignorance to the neighbors that have no dogs....poop on the street is like “ second hand smoke “ for other’s!"

"I walk to and from work. This is one reason why I live here. The walk is great and it’s beautiful all the time. There are now many issues with transients in the neighborhood which is unnerving for my girlfriend walk-in at night. "

"The parks get a high percentage of homeless after dusk. tell kids to keep their scooters off the sidewalks as it effects the pedestrians. The train seems to be increasing crime around here "

"Fresh Air from the Pacific Ocean, wide streets, trees, flowers and friendly neighbors. Closeness to all shops, restaurants and public transportation makes it easy to get around to shop. Cleanliness of neighborhood. There is city noise like occasional garbage trucks and ambulances during the day, but not in the evening or night. Safe. Sightings of occasional harmless homeless person might be disturbing to some."
