6/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageMy daughter just finished her 9th grade year and we have been so impressed throughout the year by all of her teachers (they truly go the extra mile when working with their students), the rigorous and engaging instruction, the fantastic sports programs, and all of the clubs and extracurricular options. We feel so fortunate to have SPHS as our neighborhood high school.Parent Review1y ago - Richard Henry Dana Middle School

4/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageSan Pedro, CA parents and students have no other Public Los Angeles middle School to attend. it is the ONLY school available for students out of 5th grades to attend. There are no other schools to compare against Richard Henry Dana Middle School for an education in a Middle School. This is a reason parents who cannot afford any other choices to send their children, are harassed, and ridiculed because of their LOW LOW incomes. There is no PUBLIC School Bus available to Students to Attend this school, and Students must utilize City of LA Bus system where many must walk long City Blocks to a Bus Route to Board any City Bus and must walk City of San Pedro neighborhoods to find and obtain other City Bus to return to their Parents homes. Those students with Parents that have above average incomes often drive their children to this School.Parent Review1y ago - Leland Street Elementary School

5/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageMy child has been attending this school since kindergarten and is now in the 4th grade. In the 5 years that my child has attended this school they’ve been placed in the magnet program and is excelling according to the staff and has been recommended for GATE testing. However not all teachers have prepared my child for their success. I’ve only been pleased with her 1st and 2nd grade teacher on how they prepare the students daily for the curriculum. Most of the other teachers believe in sending the kids home with packets wether it be weekly or monthly to have the students complete with no clear guidance on what to focus on and given the proper training on how to solve certain problems. Even after asking the teachers if the students have gone over the problems in class the response is always not just yet and we expect the students to struggle until we are able to review that particular assignment. As a concerned parent this school doesn’t seem like a system of learning more like just going through the motions. I’ve had to teach my child multiple assignment that were assigned as homework before the teacher was able to go over the assignment in class. This school doesn’t seem to care about how the students attain answers for the homework.Parent Review2y ago - Check out schools near 785 W 19th St #3.

"Pros: Beautiful views, housing prices You definitely have to be ok with noise living here. Noise such as year round, nightly fireworks, motorcycles + loud pipes from 7am-midnight, constant dog barking. Upside, housing is cheap… Probably due to the fact that anyone who has ever lived anywhere else isn’t go to stay and allow random explosions to be part of their daily life. The neighborhood is extremely dog friendly. If you don’t own a dog, you will once you move here. Only problem is, the number of dogs you end up owning is dependent on how many dogs your neighbors have. You end up disciplining and listening to your neighbors dogs around the clock and throughout your home here. Another upside is you don’t have to care about the comfort of others! You can be as disruptive and ignorant as you want and your neighbors won’t expect any better 👍 Cheers and happy home hunting! "

"I live in the area. Too many bars which lead to bar fights and subsequent shootings. Google it! A lot of homeless ajustnd drug addicts, unfortunately. This neighborhood is not great, it’s okay. We call the police often. We are trying to help make the neighborhood better. And as sure as I am writing this, I hear, a homeless man outside yelling to himself, about 700 feet away. Go figure!"
