What Locals Say about San Luis Obispo

  • Trulia User
"Easy drive with little congestion. Parking downtown requires imagination and persistence. Public transit is slow and very rare on weekends or evenings. Not much demand. "

"Great town and neighborhood feel. Great places to go for walk and hikes. There is also a college nearby, so some neighborhoods have lots of student housing."

"I live near a busy street around restaurants and other college students. Some older people as well, but not many kids. Bike Blvd does have lots of families riding bikes."

  • Trulia User
"The town is very spread out, and when you need to go across town (work and school) it feels inconvenient and because the transit in slo is centered in the center of the city, it makes it even more difficult to choose public transit. "

"I have lived here for over 5 years. It is surrounded by hills, plenty of hiking trails, close to the beach, great downtown area with excellent food and drink and people are very happy and friendly. There’s so much nature to explore and people are generally pretty respectful of each other. "

"I work within walking distance of my home so my commute is easy. San Luis has pockets of homes and businesses. There is a down town area. I live away from that. Traffic is increasing and can be an issue at the end of the day. There is a bus stop however buses are infrequent. "

"Lots of bums and the area is being infiltrated with people from Fresno and Bakersfield for vacations, and they're not the upper class type. The area, like much of California, is changing. "

"Most neighbors are tactful, friendly and willing to say high. Some are rude, short and elitists. General we all get along. We all understand there is no good reason for rents to be this high and salaries to remain so low. "

"We live a few doors down from this house and have since 1995. The owners have always taking extremely good care of their home and maintained a beautiful yard. (We are all very sorry to see them move.) Once you have lived on the lake you are spoiled for life. You not only have the peaceful, serene views of the lake, but the gorgeous views of the park and hills on the other side. You can enjoy fishing, sailing, kayaking, etc. anytime you want. Truly a lovely area and lovingly maintained home."
