6/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageOverall, the school is not bad. The teachers are very nice and most of them teach very well. The school's environment can feel very different depending on where you hang out. Some fights break out but faculty is very quick to stop them, and they usually don't escalate further than they need to. There is a bit of gang presence on school grounds, but if you do not associate, you should be fine. On another note, I feel like most students at this school are not here to learn, as many students here have bad grades. However, YB offers a very nice program called College Connection Academy (CCA) that starts from 7th grade and goes up to 12th grade. The program includes exposure to AP classes and dual enrollment opportunities. This is a program I'm currently in, and it lets you see YB in a new light. You'll be surrounded by people who are just like you, and who want to pursue a higher education. 6/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThe school is surrounded by campers that are occupied by homeless. The location is in an industrial work area, not child friendly. Children walking to nearby restaurants after school, or walking home, have to pass by these campers. One is parked by the school where kids are told to wait and play on the basketball courts. Actual lockdowns have happened with the safety of children in jeopardy. Fires have happened in the back of the school where homeless people also camp and start fires.
