Additionally, I like how are school, is small because it's almost like we're one big family, and even though we're different one thing we all have in common is we all care about one another. 7/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI had a really fun time at Lincoln. I dropped out during Covid but I made a lot of cool connections and saw a lot of interesting things. It was a very fun time and I enjoyed every second of it. Off campus lunch means students can go down to taraval and enjoy some of the food. It also means its very easy to leave school at any time because none of the doors are locked! Which is awesome if you don't care about school. I had a lot of cool and caring teachers/staff here, big shoutout to Aaron Yang, Mark Ruffalo, Omar Campos, Joel Balzer, and Lance Tagamori. The staff here cares about their students and wants them to succeed, they understand the variety of adversities that students face and are willing to help anyone succeed. I highly recommend Lincoln to anyone who wants to have a somewhat challenging school experience that fosters growth and life skills. The school is great. If you apply yourself here you will succeed and grow, I did the opposite but still learned a lot about life. I have very fond memories of my time here and wouldn't trade it for anything. Only reason it gets a three for safety is cause it's easy to leave and I knew a lot of kids who brought weapons to school, but these weren't dangerous or malicious people and only people who wanted to stay safe because of the neighborhood they live in and it is likely 97% of students were unaware to this fact, so don't worry.Other Review4mo ago - Aptos Middle School

One is requiring additional educational support which has been fostered by the teachers and the amazing counselors, and the other is more self-motivated and is able to take advantage of the advanced classes offered in the subjects they enjoy. Additionally, each area of the school, whether it is the arts or athletics has teachers that are encouraging and will motivate kids to try something new. Finally, we have found that the core curriculum classes have teachers that will work with your child to actually learn the topic, so they are prepared for college or just a lifetime of learning. They are not flexible for special needs children. They are lazy, and have very condescending tones when dealing with parents who ask questions, and hold them accountable. 10/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThree decades later, I’ve come to appreciate the safe haven (for sf) that Lowell provided for me. Stressful? Check ..safe? Check ….. challenging/competitive? Check …. Camaraderie among students and lasting relationships? Check, but you do need to go outside your comfort zone and find your tribe - May take a year(s) … teacher quality? Average….. this school literally saved me and my siblings from having to attend our dangerous neighborhood high school in the city. We were definitely not the brightest, but we put in quite a bit of effort. And that’s all you need. From there, it’s a high probability that you can go to a UC bc Lowell’s reputation does carry a lot of weight. One caution is if your child is overly anxious or does not deal with stress well in terms of academics or testing or a highly competitive academic environment , then I think Lowell may not be the best for a student for his/her mental health. And that’s perfectly fine bc grades are just that and perhaps just a subjective judgment of knowledge or competency in a subject at a particular point in time as compared to the pool of students in one or two classes. There is no lottery or wait lists to get into classes including APs like at the large high schools in the district and lower ratio of students to counselors. There are three pathways to choose from in the Junior year. If your student wants to play sport, they will be able to do it here. The majority of teachers are great, some exceptional and all care about the students. Location is central and easy to get to. Recently, the school was awarded a grant for their gardening program. 6/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThe education here is very terrible as the teachers are severely underpaid and are not motivated to make sure the students have the best education. Teachers and staff also are known for being involved and taking sides with teens during drama and conflict and often take favoritism. many problems about this school include the bathroom policies where they don't allow students to use the bathroom for a little less than half a period (20 mins). Teachers and staff treat using the bathroom like it's a special privilege and fail to emphasize with students. Burton only allows a handful of students to use the bathroom and only one 1 of the 3 bathrooms is usually opened, leading to a chaotic transition period between classes where you have to pick whether to hold in your juices or risk your attendance absent. The principal of the school is also super unprofessional as she lets her own biases and political agendas influence her decision-making. For example, the JROTIC and other military branches were removed and blacklisted from this school, as she wants to pump up the numbers of students who attend college, in turn making the school statistically look better than it really is. (and that's putting it lightly)The lunch policies are also the worst, as they serve an inadequate amount of food, with an inadequate amount of nutritional value per meal. Often, I have to go through the day with an empty and my bladder full. "What's not to love about Ingleside? The people are friendly, and although it's in the city, it has a suburban feel. It is bordered by West Portal, West Wood Park, Sunnyside, and Monterey Heights to the North and Daly City to the South. It is very accessible via I-280 and Bart and Muni Lines J, K, and L. Since it is located on the South West side of town, you can easily get to the beaches. The community consists of mostly working class down-to-earth people, but being so close to San Francisco State and City College, you do have lots of college age people around. This has led to new shops and restaurants opening up along Ocean Avenue, including Whole Foods. It is very convenient to go to Stonestown and Daly City. Stonestown has a Trader's Joe and another Whole Foods and Farmer's market. Stonestown is currently undergoing redevelopment plans, where they will transform to a town center in the next fifteen years."

"There are a few homes on my block with kids, but there aren't many. The OMI (Ocean View-Merced Heights-Ingleside) neighborhoods have a decent mix of family sizes and types. There are often neighbor events on Ocean Avenue. "

"Easy for downtown or North Peninsula. You can head north over the GG bridge quickly if you avoid the congested times on 19th avenue. If I leave before 8:30 AM on a weekend, I can be in Sausalito in 20 minutes. Also, the beaches are nearby, and Ocean Beach to Pacifica and Montara - are all short drives."

"We have several libraries and two colleges, SFSU and CCSF, just a short ride from us on the M. Overall, it's an excellent place for college students to live, as rent and overall cost of living tends to be fairly reasonable, compared to many other areas in San Francisco."

"Most people take the M line, whether they're going directly to a downtown station or taking the train in the opposite direction, to reach the Balboa Park Bart Station. Unfortunately, the M has a notoriously chaotic approach to arriving on time and sees more than its fair share of bizarre events on or around trains, which makes commuting by train more untenable than anywhere else in the city I've lived. More and more people are switching to Lyft or Uber as they're far more likely to arrive on time to work or appointments, that way."

"There are a few nice parks in the area, some with playgrounds, and, while I don't have children myself, I've not heard unusual complaints about schools. However, I really alarmed myself one day by checking a sex offender registry app for the neighborhood, and list of results was crazy long, even just for the few blocks around our house. I think it's certainly something to look into more closely before bringing children to live in the area."

"There are trees along the streets here, but not a lot of parks. You can jump on Muni and get to Lake Merced very quickly though. It's easy to walk your dog! Having a big dog might be good for safety."

"The graffiti here is unique and feels like art! There are great views out over the ocean when you get to the top of the neighborhood. Muni runs right through, so you feel very connected to the city. We have a community garden and a library right up the street."

"Dog owners would love that there are multiple pet-friendly parks within walking distance. There aren't a whole lot of places to hike, though. My neighborhood is quite compact—most houses have no front yard and a very small backyard, so dogs would have limited space to play around."

"Everything is within walking distance. We have public transportation, a city college, state university, shopping mall, all kinds of restaurants, a library, park, gym, UPS, Walgreens, Target, WholeFoods. And the freeway is close by! It's just all super convenient! There are even a few bars nearby where there are live performances."

"It's not the safest neighborhood. It's pretty quiet, but always watch your surroundings, make sure to lock your car, don't leave any valuables in sight. There's a dispensary nearby, so if you don't like the smell of weed, try to stay away from that area."

"This is great neighborhood and it's only getting better. It's close to restaurants, shopping (Stonestown, Whole Foods) and public transportation so it's walkable. It has a really nice neighborhood feel. There are still single family homes, trees and yards so it's nicer than many areas in the city but it's also incredibly easy to get down the peninsula for work and into the 'hot' areas of the city for play. "
