"Great neighborhood but It’s still a city dealing with city problems. Families in the neighborhood are great."

  • Valerie V.
"There are tons of lines that get you anywhere you need to go without too much walking or switching buses. Cable cars too!"

  • Shawn
"North Beach doesn’t need much explaining. It is well know as little Italy and is in very close proximity to Chinatown where very affordable produce can be found. There are still several Italian families in the neighborhood and the restaurants are among the best in the city for under $50 per plate. There are certainly fancier areas, but this area feels authentic. Sure there are a lot of tourists and the places along Columbus cater to the tourists. Get just a few feet off Columbus and you’ll find the real North beach."

"History. Balance between neighborhood vibe and tourist/nightlife destination. Quirkiness. Hills to get home mean you don’t need a gym. It’s not for the faint of heart. "

"Getting into and out of the city from North Beach is painful. Do not recommend if you commute outside of the city. "

"I haven’t been to a community event but there is a nice park called Washington Square there that everyone hangs out at. It’s nice in the summer time to chill out there with friends. There’s a lot of small shops, restaurants, and bars to go to. You can also visit the church next to the park and it’s beautiful. "

"Noisy place, especially on weekend nights, drunk neighbors don’t know how to be quiet. But this area is super convenience. Also a lots of mosquitos during September to November "

"North Beach is a wonderful little corner of the city that seems to be agnostic to the changing times. Its charm and character have remained consistent over the years, with old Italian establishments and quiet Victorian-lined streets. "

Neighborhood street fairs are almost always a great time, with danceable music, great aromas from the delicious food, lots of arts and crafts, and sometimes a petting zoo."
