4/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI have taught at this school for 10 years. The teachers and staff are 100% dedicated to the students and are constantly striving to find innovative ways to engage the students. Collaboration among teachers strengthens the curriculum and teaching methods. Monthly family participation events keep the families involved and connected in the classrooms. Community programs help families connect to the school, other families and the community. Breakfast in the classroom ensures all students begin the day with a healthy meal and the energy and nutrients they need to succeed in school. Central Elementary is a fantastic school! Work Hard! Be Kind! Dream Big! No Excuses!Teacher Review10y ago - Hoover High School

4/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI am a substitute teacher, and recently had a single day assignment at this school. Let me start off by saying that I am a fully credentialed teacher, and have subbed at the vast majority of middle schools within San Diego Unified. My experience at this school was nothing short of shocking. Every school no matter where you go has the classroom "handfuls," but at this school these students have zero respect for adults and lie to teachers like it's a knee jerk reaction. Very sad state of affairs. Apparently there are no consequences at this school, and you can tell that from the attitude of the trouble makers. It's probably a school that subscribes to the notion of "restorative justice." It's sad that the school lets the classroom trouble makers ruin the educational experiences of the majority of students who genuinely appreciate the value of education. The funny thing is that I had subbed at Mann Middle School down the street the day before, and it was a night and day difference. Like I tell people all the time, the atmosphere of the school dictates everything. From the administrators, to the resource assistants, and teachers. If everyone isn't on the same page, then the students will suffer!Teacher Review7y ago - Check out schools near 3861 42nd St.

"Our neighbors are (mostly) great, as with most places. There are signs of improvements to the neighborhood as people begin to make home improvements and invest into our community. Excited to see this neighborhood in City Heights get even better over the next 3-5-10 years."
